When you are putting together an outdoor event, such as a wedding reception or a birthday party, you can make the event more exciting and decorative by arranging a balloon arch around the areas that will be used as doorways in your yard or garden. Although you can have a florist inflate a balloon doorway, save money by making a balloon arch yourself using a few basic materials that can be purchased at any arts and crafts supply store.

    Step 1

Cut a piece of medium-weight twine using scissors to measure 14 ft. long.

    Step 2

Tie each end of the twine onto a camping stake, then push the stakes into the ground where you want the balloon doorway to be. Space the camping stakes out by 4 ft.

    Step 3

Inflate a large balloon using a helium tank and knot the end. Tie a 4-inch piece of string onto the knot of the balloon.

    Step 4

Tie the other end of the string onto the bottom of the twine.

    Step 5

Repeat the process, stacking the inflated balloons on top of each other as you tie them onto the twine. The helium balloons will lift the twine up into an arched doorway.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Use one or two colors of balloons to create a more uniform appearance to the balloon doorway.
    • Keep sharp scissors and the helium tank out of the reach of children.
