Maine Pageants for Kids

    Youth pageants have become a popular activity for both girls and boys. In addition to learning confidence, poise and grace, pageant contestants are also encouraged to get involved in their local communities. Many pageants require their contestants and their title holders to participate in community service and charitable activities throughout the year. Some youth pageants offer scholarships as awards in addition to a title and crown.

    Miss Maine Day Program

    The Miss Maine Day Program is an off-shoot of the official Miss Maine Scholarship Program, which is the official state preliminary pageant to the Miss America contest. The Miss Main Day pageants are broken down in to four age groups -- the pageant is open to 4- to 17-year-olds. The pageant is usually held toward the end of September and requires preregistration with an application and entry fee. For an additional fee, contestants can participate in a photogenic and essay contest as well.

    American Coed Pageants

    American Coed Pageants has two divisions, New Jersey and New England, which incorporates Maine. The American Coed Pageants pride themselves on promoting natural beauty and do not allow makeup for participant under age 13. The New England contest is held in Framingham, Massachusetts, which is about a five-hour drive from the center of Maine. Winners of the New England pageant complete in the National Miss American Coed Pageant at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

    New England Cinderella

    The New England Cinderella Scholarship Pageant is open to girls from newborn to 26 years old and boys from newborn to 12 years old. Winners of regional Cinderella Scholarship Pageants have a chance to complete at the International Pageant, which is held in the end of July. The 2011 New England pageant was held in Warwick, RI, which is about a five and a half hour drive from the center of Maine.

    Kings & Queens Awards Pageant

    The Kings & Queens Awards Pageant is held in Manchester, NH and is open to contestants from all states, including Maine. The pageant is open to boys and girls from newborn to 65 years old. There are 23 separate age divisions. Glitz and natural beauty contestants also compete in separate categories. Every entrant in the Kings & Queens pageant receives a participation trophy. Kings & Queens also holds monthly mail-in pageants that are open to all ages and all states.
