Columbus is located on the Georgia-Alabama border just east of Auburn, Alabama. Columbus is the home of the Coca-Cola Space Science Center and Fort Benning, one of the nation’s largest military bases. If you are planning to stay in Columbus, you'll have a wide range of lodging options, from quaint bed and breakfasts to upscale hotels.

Bed and Breakfast

The Rothschild-Pound House Inn on Seventh Street is owned by Mamie and Garry Pound, who have renovated more than a dozen Columbus homes. This bed and breakfast has stained glass, a winding staircase and antique tubs. The gardens feature native plants and a banana tree. Guests can choose from rooms in the main house or in five surrounding cottages, and enjoy a home-cooked breakfast in the restaurant or in the privacy of their room. The Pounds provide terrycloth bathrobes. Guests can also use complimentary wireless Internet and enjoy a daily wine reception.

Extended-Stay Hotels

The Value Place on Victory Drive has two different buildings and weekly rates for three different room types. All rooms have a full kitchen, and guests have access to a full-service coin laundry. The hotel offers several add-ons, including linen exchange, a coffeemaker and a dish pack for the kitchen. The Staybridge Suites on Whittlesey is near Fort Benning and all of Columbus’s major hospitals. Staybridge offers regular weekly housekeeping, on-site laundry, a rental car desk, fitness center, pool, barbecue pits and a business center. For guests who like movies, the Staybridge has its own home theater room with DVD checkout.
