The southernmost point of the continental United States, Key West is a beach lover’s vacation paradise. This tiny island at the tip of the Florida Keys is home to beautiful beaches, various historic places of interest and nightlife that is not limited to the night at all. Those looking for accommodations with the ocean right outside the hotel window can find several options along the Key West shores.

The Reach

Travelers who want to get away from the crowded beaches can find the ideal setting at The Reach. This hotel resort features Key West’s only private beach, accessible only to guests of the resort. The 450-foot stretch of sand provides a private place to view the crystal blue waters of the Atlantic. Rent a jet ski, ride in a sailboat, paddle a kayak or paddleboat or even hop on top of an ocean bike. There also are good snorkeling opportunities just offshore. The hotel's other amenities include an 18-hole golf course, a spa, a steakhouse and an ocean-side freshwater pool. Guest rooms can have island or ocean views and feature approximately 275 square feet of space, ceramic tile floors, ceiling fans and private balconies.

Casa Marina

The 311-room Casa Marina luxury hotel opened on New Year’s Eve in 1920. It was designed by architects Thomas Hastings and John M. Carrere, the architects responsible for the New York Metropolitan Opera House and the Senate and House of Representatives office buildings in Washington, D.C. The hotel was used as a military outpost during World War II and the Cuban Missile Crisis and was a celebrity getaway in the 1950s. After many alternative uses, the hotel has been restored to its prime and is a popular Keys destination. The hotel sits beside a 6.5-acre white sand beach on the island’s southern shore. The hotel’s luxurious guest rooms feature modern amenities amid classic furniture. Guests enjoy flat-screen televisions, iHome docking stations and espresso machines. The hotel has a spa, beach rentals, a golf course, a cocktail bar and the Sun-Sun Beach Bar and Grill between the pool and the beach.

Southernmost on the Beach

The Southernmost on the Beach is a hotel perched on a quiet piece of the island surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. It is walking distance from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street, but on the property guests feel a million miles away. In addition to a scenic stretch of beach, the Southernmost on the Beach has a private pier that juts out into the ocean to provide guests with an unobstructed view of both the sunrise and sunsets that Key West is famous for. The hotel features an oceanfront pool, beach and in-room massages, a fitness center, yoga classes, beach volleyball, croquet, bocce, a beach cafe, a beach bar and a pool bar. Rooms feature turndown service, mini refrigerators and an iPod station.

Westin Key West Resort

One block from the pub-crawling nightlife of Duvall Street, the Westin Key West Resort is in the heart of Old Town next to Mallory Square. This AAA four-diamond hotel has the largest on-site marinas in Key West and operates the country’s largest private port, which hosts cruise ships among other vessels. Guests at the Westin can choose from 178 luxurious suites and guestrooms, relax in the massage studio, get a workout in the 24-hour fitness center and soak in the heated pool or hot tub.
