Your child's first birthday is a milestone event, worthy of a joyful celebration. But let's face it, an infant is not really able to participate in the festivities or even recognize the occasion. Though most people typically cater to the guest of honor at such celebrations, at an infant's birthday party, it's more practical to focus on keeping your guests entertained. If you live in Chicago, you'll find dozens of party locations to delight attendees of all ages, while your tiny guest of honor marvels over the empty gift boxes.
Indoor Amusement Parks
Chicago has a variety of indoor amusement parks where your guests can have fun while baby is safe from outdoor elements such as excessive heat, rain, snow or cold weather. Go Bananas is in the Chicago suburb of Norridge. The fun center provides indoor entertainment, rides, games, prizes and concessions provided by Pizza Hut restaurants. Parents accompanying small children ride for free and birthday party packages are available. Well-known kid's party restaurant Chuck E. Cheese's has two Chicago locations and three more in suburbs less than 30 minutes from the city.
The Zoo
Chicago has two magnificent zoos lined with intricate landscaping and amazing architecture. Both of them offer private party and group event services. The Lincoln Park Zoo is in the historic Lincoln Park neighborhood just walking distance from Lake Michigan beaches. The zoo will work with you to arrange a private party on-site in the zoo concession areas of the elegant Café Brauer. Brookfield Zoo is just 20 minutes outside of Chicago in the suburb of Brookfield and offers guests a full birthday party package. Birthday parties of 20 or more receive a "Happy Birthday" welcome sign at the park entrance, free general Zoo admission with complimentary parking pass and carousel coupons, admission to the Hamill Family Play Zoo, party favors and decorations, a buffet lunch for guests and a collection of stuffed animals and a Brookfield Zoo -T-shirt for the guest of honor.
Dave & Buster's
One way to ensure that guests of all ages are having a great time is to provide numerous types of entertainment -- and refreshments -- at your party. Dave the Clark Street facility in the heart of downtown or the suburban location just 25 minutes from Chicago in Addison, Illinois. Dave & Buster's offers billiards, bowling, shuffleboard, video and carnival games and a variety of birthday party packages.
Kid Party Venues
Most infant birthday parties include a considerable number of family members, and ultimately more kids. Chicago and its suburbs have a number of party venues designed specifically for children's birthday parties and gatherings. Fun Division is a children's party service provider with dozens of locations throughout Chicago and Northern Illinois. Each facility accommodates up to 150 guests and party services include a private party room, child-friendly DJ music, face painting, balloon sculpting, a pizza buffet, refreshments and your own personal party director. The Family Grounds Cafe in Lincoln Park is a child-friendly coffee house with special play areas for children that also offers birthday party packages. Just 30 minutes from Chicago in Deerfield, you can book your baby's party at the Starland Creativity Center. The center offers several all-inclusive party themes, some of which include Lego party, hip-hop party, pirate party and a Disney stars dance party.
