Inexpensive Hotels in Anaheim

by Wendy K. Leigh

The Southern California city of Anaheim in Orange County is best known for being home to the very first Disney theme park, which opened in 1955. It is now referred to as "Disneyland Resort," encompassing the additional California Adventure park next door. Other notable tourist destinations in Anaheim include the Anaheim Convention Center and Angel Stadium. Affordable lodging choices near these attractions are plentiful along heavily populated streets, with shuttles often provided free by the hotels.

Anaheim is approximately 27 miles from downtown Los Angeles, most easily accessible from Interstate 5. Several other major roadways intersect with I-5 in this area, including I-405, the 22 Freeway and State Routes 91, 55 and 57. If your goal is to find a relatively inexpensive hotel choice near Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center, most of the lodging options can be found within half a mile of these attractions, on major streets like West Katella Avenue and South Harbor Boulevard.

Good Neighbor Economical Hotels

The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim partners with at least 40 hotels in the vicinity that have earned the designation as "Good Neighbor Hotels," recommended by Disney and given an official stamp of approval. The ones given a rating of "economical" by Disney are generally the lowest cost accommodations. The Ramada Inn Maingate is located directly across the street from Disneyland, while the Jolly Roger, Motel 6 and Quality Inn are all within half a mile.

Good Neighbor Moderate Hotels

Dozens more hotels nearby are moderately priced, including the Best Western Anaheim Inn and the Best Western Park Place Inn, both located directly across the street from Disneyland. Three additional Best Western properties can be found within half a mile. The Anaheim Camelot Inn and Suites on South Harbor Boulevard provides a complimentary continental breakfast to get you fueled for the day, and the Holiday Inn chain offers two separate accommodation choices less than a mile away. All of these properties are considered moderately price by the Disneyland Good Neighbor rating system.

Anaheim Convention Center Hotels

The Anaheim Convention Center is only one block from Disneyland, so affordable hotels for convention attendees are practically identical to the ones for theme park vacationers. A few that are particularly convenient to the convention center include the Anabella Hotel on West Katella Avenue, a Spanish mission-style property that is actually on the Anaheim Convention Center campus. The Alpine Inn is directly across the street and still only 100 yards to the south entrance of Disneyland and California Adventure theme parks.

Angel Stadium Hotels

Angel Stadium is only three blocks east of Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center, just off State Route 57, also known as the Orange Freeway. Several hotels here specialize in spacious suites or long-term stays. The Extended Stay America chain offers efficiency studios at reduced rates for stays one week or longer, and the Towneplace Suites is a budget choice by Marriott that provides fully equipped kitchens and a location just steps from the main entrance to Angel Stadium.
