Except for the Olympic participant Stars on Ice tour, New Jersey ice skating shows are collaborative missions of New Jersey Council of Figure Skating Clubs (njcfsc.org). Each participating club is based in a different area of the state and has its own rink where it conducts practice. Shows are at arenas where those honed skills are judged for awards and yearly championship winnings. Some clubs put on their own shows outside of the NJCFSC competitions, but most are out of state.

New Jersey Council of Figure Skating Clubs

The NJCFSC is composed of 16 skating clubs and associations. Every year some of these clubs compete all over the state for championships. Some shows include the annual NJCFS championship at Floyd Hall Arena (floydhallarena.com) in Little Falls, the basic skills competition at Farmingdale's Howell Ice World (howelliceworld.com), the open competition at Mennen Sports Arena (no website; 161 E. Hanover Ave., Morristown; 973-326-7651) and the basic skills competition at the Ice Vault Arena (icevault.com) in Wayne.

Atlantic City Figure Skating Club

The Atlantic City Figure Skating Club (acfsc.homestead.com) is a member of the New Jersey Council of Figure Skating Clubs. In addition to participating in NJCFSC championships, the Atlantic City Figure Skating Club holds shows annually during winter and spring. Shows guarantee a demonstration of skill taught by industry experts who are certified by the Ice Skating Institute and U.S. Figure Skating. Some previous show sites include the Ice House (icehousenj.com) in Hackensack and the Hollydell Ice Arena (hollydell.com) in Sewell.

Stars on Ice

World champions and Olympic medalists show off their talents in the Smucker's annual Stars on Ice tour (starsonice.com). Since 1986 the show has traveled to New Jersey. The show's creative team has won four Emmy awards for choreography and costume design. Award-winning performances enhanced by carefully selected music and lighting special effects have created a show that fanatics wait for every year. Over the years the tour has visited Morristown and East Rutherford's IZOD Center (meadowlands.com).

Skating Club of Southern New Jersey

The Skating Club of Southern New Jersey (scosnj.org) is another member of the NJCFSC that provides a local show in addition to its NJCFSC commitments. Every summer the Skating Club of Southern New Jersey puts on its Rock and Roll on Ice show at the cooperative Igloo Ice Rink in Mt. Laurel. The club also has a synchronized skating coach and features this skill at its shows.
