The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas, was founded by Mrs. Johnson, for whom the park is named, and the actress Helen Hayes. It is filled with gardens and walking trails that protect and preserve the native plants and landscapes found in North America. Besides the public gardens, it is also a research center for the University of Texas at Austin. Visitors who come to Austin can enjoy a walk along the four trails (none longer than a mile). There are a number of places within a short drive of the center.
