Ohio features wineries all over the state from the small city of Conneaut to the capital, Columbus. Depending on the winery, you can sample wines made from grapes or berries, or you can sit down to a full meal. You have your choice of lodgings near each winery offering a range of amenities and price points.

At Henke Winery, you can have dinner and listen to music in addition to sipping Cabernet and Chardonnay. Within a few miles of the winery, you'll find the Holiday Inn Express - Cincinnati West, with a sundeck, outdoor swimming pool and fitness equipment. A free breakfast in included in the price of the room. About the same distance away, Six Acres Bed and Breakfast is located on six landscaped acres. Breakfast features an upscale Southern-style meal with choices such as souffles, crab omelets and shrimp with grits.

Biscotti's Family Winery produces about 12 kinds of wine, including an award-winning elderberry and a dry red called "Tony Soprano." Down the street from the winery, you can stay at Lighthouse Retreats, which features rental homes and cottages right on Lake Erie. The accommodations are furnished and include full kitchens. For a more traditional hotel, Days Inn Conneaut is about five miles away. It offers guests free continental breakfasts and free Internet usage, and it has a patio, seasonal pool and restaurant with live entertainment on weekends.

You get a twofer at the Swiss Heritage Winery -- samples of fine wine plus cheeses from the Broad Run Cheesehouse. You'll be familiar with some of the wines such as Chardonnay, but you can also taste new varieties such as peach and blackberry. About two miles from the winery, you'll find the Dutch Host Inn, which offers standard rooms as well as fancier ones with Jacuzzis and fireplaces. A free continental breakfast is included in the rates. A Comfort Inn is located about four miles away. It features free breakfast, newspaper and Internet access, and it has an indoor pool and exercise room.

Wyandotte Winery is a family-owned operation that not only produces wine from grapes but also makes cranberry, raspberry, plum and pomegranate wines. It's located about three miles from Easton Town Center, a mixed-use neighborhood with homes, stores, restaurants and plenty of hotels. If you're looking for luxury, try the Hilton Columbus at Easton, which offers large rooms and suites plus bathrooms outfitted with Italian marble. For playing, you'll find a heated indoor pool, fitness center and pool room; for working, there's a complimentary business center. If you want a homier feel, check into the Residence Inn Columbus Easton, a Marriott property. The hotel offers suites with kitchens, and it also serves a free breakfast buffet. On-site recreation includes a swimming pool, fitness center and sports court.
