Hotels in the Waterville Valley Ski Area

by Joe Fletcher

Located in New Hampshire's White Mountains, Waterville Valley is a 259-acre ski resort. The village of the same name sits a couple miles down the road, providing an authentic New England village experience connected to the resort by shuttle. The lodging of Waterville Valley is concentrated in the town square within walking distance of shops and restaurants and just a short drive or shuttle ride from the ski resort. Options range from large luxury hotels to quaint mountain inns.

Golden Eagle Lodge

The Golden Eagle Lodge is a large, 139-room condominium-suite property seated right on Corcoran's Pond. The property offers one- and two-bedroom suites with full kitchens and also has tower suites that provide 180 views of the surrounding wilderness outside. Amenities include heated indoor pool, two Jacuzzis, men and women's saunas, and a video game room.

Black Bear Lodge

Another all-suite hotel, Black Bear has 107 full-kitchen-equipped, individually owned units. The property has a selection of winter comforts like indoor/outdoor pool, outdoor whirlpool spa, sauna and steam room, as well as a game room and pool table. An exercise room is on the property and a fuller gym experience is available free with stay at the White Mountain Athletic Club.

Snowy Owl Inn

The Snowy Owl Inn is a rustic, 85-room inn. The property has a lobby atrium with a three-story stone fireplace and a series of smaller lobbies strung throughout the building, providing a place to gather with old and new friends. Room options include dual double beds, family rooms with a bunk loft for kids, and deluxe rooms with sitting areas. Some rooms have Jacuzzis, wet bars and kitchens. The inn offers eight individual types of rooms altogether, as well as a wine and cheese social in the afternoon.

Packages

All of these properties offer ski-and-stay packages. As of 2010, packages advertised included "Wicked Long Ski Weekends," which come with an early check-in and free skiing on Friday afternoons, "Ring in the New Year," where kids' lift tickets are free with adult lift tickets, and various vacation week packages. Deals can change by year or week, so check with either Waterville Valley Ski Resort or the specific property for deals active during your stay, including last-minute deals.
