Hotels in Tawas City, Michigan

Tawas City, a small coastal town, sits along the northeast coast of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula on Lake Huron. Visitors find a few hotels within the town that offer convenient access to the quaint downtown area along with the area’s wealth of recreational amenities, including Tawas Point State Park, East Tawas City Park Beach and the expansive Huron National Forest that borders the town to the northwest.

Days Inn

Days Inn, located a half mile south of downtown Tawas City, offers a quiet setting partially surrounded by pine forest. Guests access a public beach just a quarter mile away at Gateway Park. A spacious lobby greets visitors with a breakfast area and game room. Accommodations include standard rooms with a sitting table, and suites with a separate sitting area or in-room Jacuzzi tub. Waterfront dining options within a mile include Reed’s on the River and Crystal Bay Restaurant.

Tawas Motel

Tawas Motel offers low-cost lodging less than a mile south of downtown. Guests access snowmobile and hiking trails five miles to the northwest in the Huron National Forest. Nautical-themed guest rooms include access to a seasonal outdoor pool, game room and outdoor picnic area. Tawas Motel, conveniently located on US 23, offers several local eateries within a mile, including the Crossroads Grill & Nightclub and Mitch’s Pizzeria.

Tawas Bay Beach Resort

Tawas Bay Beach Resort features a large, sandy beach on Lake Huron only a mile northeast of downtown Tawas City. Guests enjoy a swimming area, hiking trails and boat launch at Tawas Point State Park, less than two miles from the resort. Accommodations include city- or bay-view rooms with pillow-top mattresses and Jacuzzis in select units. Topsiders Restaurant located on the second floor features fine dining overlooking Tawas Bay. Bikini’s Beach Bar located directly on the beach and open seasonally offers tropical cocktails and ice cream.

Harborview Motel

Harborview Motel, just south of downtown Tawas City on US 23, sits across the road from Tawas Bay Marina. The small, privately-owned motel offers door-front parking and a grassy picnic area with views of Lake Huron. Accommodations include a spacious floor plan and in-room Jacuzzi tub. Downtown Tawas City features several eateries just over a mile north of the hotel, including Augie’s on the Bay and Los Cuatro Amigos Mexican Restaurant.
