Roadside Motels -- Higher End

Springfield is home to more than a dozen roadside motels, clustered around the Interstate 70 and Interstate 75 interchange. Most of the motels are part of national chains. Higher-end facilities include the Hampton Inn and the Fairfield Inn, which are part of the Hilton and Marriott luxury hotel chains. They offer free hot breakfast buffets, indoor lobbies with comfortable, living room-like seating areas, fitness rooms and indoor pools. The doors to the individual units open to indoor hallways. The Hampton Inn has 100 rooms, while the Fairfield Inn has 63 rooms.

Roadside Motel -- Economy

Budget accommodations in Springfield, also just off the major freeways, include the 100-unit Super 8 Motel and the 58-room Red Roof Inn. Both offer comfortable, though not elegant, rooms, and cater mostly to business travelers. The Red Roof Inn also has a pool. Both motels also offer breakfast buffets that are less elaborate than those at the Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn, consisting mostly of cold cereal and sweet rolls.

Bed and Breakfasts

Springfield is home to several bed-and-breakfast inns, including The Inn by Wittenberg, set in a spacious old house across the street from Wittenberg University. The three-story home offers travelers their five spacious bedrooms and, clustered in the back of the first floor, six smaller rooms available at a discounted rate. The inn also has a dining room, a living room and a small sitting area. Another choice is the Murray House, which offers three bedrooms and is on a secluded, 11-acre wooded estate.

Family

The Courtyard by Marriott in historic downtown Springfield is convenient for traveling families. The rooms and suites are spacious and the hotel allows pets. The 120-room Courtyard is in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of all the town's major attractions as well as Wittenberg University. Amenities include an indoor pool and whirlpool, a fitness center and an onsite family restaurant that also offers room service.
