San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, is also called the Jewel of the Sea of Cortez. With its dramatic views of the twin peaks, Tetakawi, the town on the Bay of San Carlos averages annual precipitation below one inch and sunshine about 86 percent of the time. Of the 232 Mexican-style guestrooms, 119 offer a lagoon view and 113 have ocean views. The hotel is pet friendly. Most rooms have satellite television and climate control heating and air conditioning. Some rooms may be available with king bed, kitchenette and balcony or terrace. The hotel has a bar and restaurant, a buffet open weekends and for special events, and a seasonal poolside snack shop.

The Best Western Hacienda Tetakawi, on the main highway across from the beach, is located within about a mile of an 18-hole golf course, a yacht club, a local dive center, restaurants and a beach. The hotel has a restaurant, lounge, snack bar and swimming pool. The hotel has 22 guest rooms on three floors with ocean views. Rooms have air conditioning, coffee maker, refrigerator, cable or satellite television. Suites are available with a wet bar. Children age 12 and under stay free in room with a paying adult. No pets are allowed.
