Hotels in Rome Near the Colosseum

by Patrick M. Lind

A hotel near the Colosseum provides travelers with a perfect location for exploring Italy’s vibrant capital. Since the Colosseum is located in the heart of ancient Rome and surrounded by other major landmarks such as the Forum Romanum or the Arch of Constantine, guests have the opportunity to reach Rome’s major sites easily from their hotel. Most of the hotels emphasize different parts of Rome’s style and design, from historic classiness to contemporary cutting edge, allowing their guests to decide according to their tastes and preferences.

Hotel Forum Roma

Hotel Forum Roma is housed in a historic building with large roof terrace at the Forum Romanum, just a few steps from the Colosseum. It opens to an elegant interior with marble floors, mahogany wall paneling, Oriental rugs, antique pillars and chandeliers. Guests sleep in 80 spacious rooms and suites with an old-time classiness. Large, 18th-century cascade windows offer magnificent views over Rome’s historic sights. Amenities include satellite TV, refrigerator and wireless Internet access. The on-site restaurant serves Italian and international gourmet cuisine and breakfast on the rooftop terrace.

Hotel Celio

The small, 20-room Hotel Celio provides an exclusive and intimate surrounding near the Colosseum. Renaissance frescoes decorate the individually designed rooms in the Italian Renaissance style. Marble bathrooms, antique furniture and delicate fabrics and mosaic flooring in the hallways add to their sophisticated appearance. A roof garden with sun terrace and a fitness room offer recreation opportunities. In the mornings guests may have breakfast served in their rooms or on the roof terrace.

Hotel Capo d’Africa

Hotel Capo d’Africa extends to its guests the tranquility and seclusion of an African safari amid the hustle and bustle of Italy’s capital. Designer furniture, art pieces and artful flower arrangements complement the warm colors and natural elements that characterize this boutique hotel. Guest rooms and suites feature a contemporary design and come with state-of-the-art amenities. Some suites have a private terrace. Hotel facilities include a fitness center, breakfast room and a bar with roof terrace serving gourmet drinks and cuisine.

Grand Hotel Palatino

Amid Rome’s historic downtown, steps away from the Colosseum, lies the traditional hotel Grand Hotel Palatino. Its interior combines classic elegance with urban, avant-garde design and welcomes guests to stylish rooms that feature a carefully arranged interplay of colors, light, artsy prints and decorations. On-site culinary facilities include two gourmet restaurants serving regional and international cuisine and an American bar and lounge.
