The Smithsonian Institution is made up of 19 museums, the National Zoo and nine research centers. Within the city of Washington, 10 of the museums are conveniently located within Third and 14th streets between Independence and Constitution avenues. Choosing a hotel in a centralized location, about two miles or less from the museums, gives visitors the choice of leisurely strolling to the Smithsonian Institution's attractions or using public transportation for a reasonable rate as a result of the hotel's close proximity to the museums.

Washington Court Hotel on Capital Hill

Located about 1 1/2 miles from the Smithsonian Institution, this hotel serves as the perfect base for taking in the museum's exhibits. Guests can also walk only two blocks to Union Square, where they will find Metro, Amtrak and MARC stations to travel anywhere in the area. All rooms offer guests a picturesque cityscape view. The Beacon Hotel and Corporate Quarters

The Beacon Hotel and Corporate Quarters sits less than two miles from the Smithsonian. Guests are also within walking distance to the Dupont Circle and the Farragut North Metro stops. The hotel covers nine floors with 199 rooms and 60 corporate quarters, which feature the design and room of a New York condominium for the extended-stay traveler. All guest rooms offer ample desk space for the working traveler. The corporate quarters provide full kitchens in each room. The hotel's Beacon Bar & Grill is designed to re-create the bygone era aboard a luxury ocean liner from the 1930s. Diners may chooses from American entree choices for brunch, lunch or dinner. The restaurant's rooftop Sky Bar, which boasts views of the city lights and stars, is accessible to guests through a special elevator key.

Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill

The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capital Hill sits 1 1/2 miles from the Smithsonian, within easy walking distance. The hotel not only offers top-of-the-line guest services and rooms, but it also caters to families. The rooms feature neutral shades of caramel and gold-toned decor, and the dark wood furnishings provide a feeling of warmth and comfort. Guests with babies can order all the necessary baby accessories online to make their trip comfortable for their tiny one. The items will be delivered to the hotel and will be awaiting the family upon arrival.

St. Gregory Luxury Hotel & Suites

Centrally located about two miles from the Smithsonian, the St. Gregory Luxury Hotel & Suites offers guests the chance to stroll leisurely to the museums. It is also within walking distance of Foggy Bottom, Farragust North and Dupont Circle Metro stations. The hotel spans nine floors with 100 suites and 54 deluxe rooms. Most of the rooms offer a full kitchen to meet the needs of long-term guests. Guests can also choose to stay in one of the hotel's "sky rooms," which feature balconies to look out over the cityscape. The M Street Bar & Grill, located within the hotel, provides a casual dining experience with American and Italian entrees.
