Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is about 14 miles northeast of Paris. Getting there by public transportation from central Paris takes about half an hour and can take even longer by taxi during rush hours. Staying near the airport makes sense for visitors catching early flights, arriving late or meeting colleagues between flights. Family visitors to Disneyland Paris may find an airport-area hotel an economical alternative to staying closer to the theme park or in central Paris. Trains from Paris CDG to Eurodisney take about 10 minutes. Accommodations close to the airport range from practical to upscale.
Half a mile from the airport, the Pullman, with its multilingual staff, is a busy chain hotel geared to serving international business travelers. The hotel has a dozen, fully equipped meeting and function rooms. Guestrooms are furnished tastefully in a conservative, corporate style. Rooms are well soundproofed and have blackout curtains to ensure that guests staying so close to the airport can still get a good night's sleep.
Cheaper hotels than the Accor group's IBIS hotel may exist near Charles de Gaulle Airport, but harried travelers looking for brand reassurance or a room on short notice won't find any surprises at the IBIS Roissy Charles de Gaulle. With 500 rooms, this is one of the biggest hotels anywhere in Paris. Rooms are simply furnished but have all the basics, including televisions, Internet access and work spaces. The hotel has two on-site restaurants and a separate bar. The IBIS is just across the street from CDG Terminal 3 and connected to the other terminals and the TGV station by the airport's 24-hour automatic metro.
Park, Stay and Fly
The Holiday Inn Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport provides its guests with a free shuttle to the airport terminals and good value park, stay and fly packages for guests using Paris as a hub for European business or leisure travel. The hotel is run according to this brand's familiar, American-style standards. As a convenience to guests in transit, it provides an airport arrivals and departures board in the lobby. Families choose interconnecting rooms or rooms with sofa beds and cots. The hotel has on-site, self-use laundry facilities.
The Wow Factor
The Hyatt Regency Paris Charles de Gaulle was designed by architect Helmut Jahn, who created a sleek five-story structure with modern tech-smart features. "As airport hotels go, the Hyatt's cutting-edge architecture puts it in a class by itself with its spectacular glass atrium overlooking the lobby," according to Frommer's.com. Glamorous public spaces aside, this hotel has spacious guest rooms decorated in a minimalist style that feature natural fabrics and original artworks. Five minutes from the airport by free shuttle, the hotel has a bright and airy swimming pool that is open generous hours from early morning to late at night. Golfing enthusiasts have what the hotel describes as "privileged access," to the Paris International Golf Course.
