San Francisco's historic Orpheum Theater hosts large-scale Broadway plays and productions such as Wicked and West Side Story. The theater is located in the city's Civic Center district near the Asian Art Museum. The area around the theater has a selection of independent hotels as well as a few chains. These hotels range in design and style, offering visitors an authentic display of the district's diverse culture.

The hotel allows pets with the payment of a one-time, nonrefundable fee.

The Good Hotel

Guests of The Good Hotel sleep well at night knowing the room they are staying in was decorated with eco-friendly and recycled materials. This doesn't mean the rooms are filled with garbage; in fact, the rooms have a stylish, artsy feeling reflecting San Francisco's free wheeling, liberal attitude. The hotel encourages further eco-friendly practices by offering free bicycle rentals, and guests with hybrid cars get to park for free at the hotel's lot. The on-site pizzeria uses homemade dough, fresh, seasonal ingredients from local farmers, and biodegradable packaging.

Best Western Carriage Inn

The 48-room Best Western Carriage Inn puts guests less than half a mile from the Orpheum Theater. Portraits of famous authors line the lobby walls of this literary-themed establishment. Each room is dedicated to a famous San Franciscan giving guests an insight into the city's counterculture and history; standard amenities include flat-screen TVs and free wireless Internet access. Guests relax in the hot tub on the garden patio or simply sit outside and read a book. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but offers free coffee and muffins in the morning. Paid on-site parking is available.
