Hotels Near the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida

by Lisa Fritscher

Sunrise, Florida, is a city of approximately 90,000 people in south Florida. The city’s primary claim to fame is the Bank Atlantic Center, opened in 1998 as the new home of the Florida Panthers hockey team. The arena also hosts a full calendar of concerts and special events that can draw thousands of visitors. Because Sunrise is relatively small, booking a hotel early is extremely important.

La Quinta Inn and Suites Sunrise

The La Quinta Inn and Suites Sunrise is centrally located, offering convenient access to the Bank Atlantic Center, Sawgrass Mills Mall and nearby tourist attractions. The hotel offers free expanded continental breakfast, wireless Internet and parking. Guest room amenities include microwaves, refrigerators and coffeemakers. Suites provide a bit of additional living space and a comfortable separate sitting area. Pets are welcome. La Quinta guests are eligible to use a nearby fitness center at a steep discount. There is no on-site restaurant but a variety of options are within two miles.

Holiday Inn Sunrise

The Holiday Inn Sunrise is close to interstates 75, 95 and 595 and the Florida Turnpike, making it easy to access the entire south Florida region. The hotel welcomes pets with a small, nonrefundable deposit. Hotel amenities include free wireless Internet, parking, on-site fitness center and swimming pool. All rooms offer work desks with ergonomic chairs and extra power outlets. Suites provide a separate living room with sofa bed, a kitchenette and a dressing nook. The hotel restaurant serves three meals per day and kids under 12 eat free.

Crowne Plaza Sawgrass Mills Sunrise

The Crowne Plaza Sawgrass Mills Sunrise is convenient to the Fort Lauderdale airport and the Hard Rock Casino, as well as the Bank Atlantic Center. The hotel operates a free shuttle to attractions within five miles. Amenities include a heated pool and a 24-hour fitness center. Airline, rental car and tour desks are located in the lobby. All guest rooms have microwaves and small refrigerators, Internet browser televisions and work desks with enhanced lighting. The hotel offers an on-site restaurant and a 24-hour lounge.

If you are unable to get a hotel room in Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale is reasonably close and offers a wide range of hotel options. Since south Florida traffic can be quite challenging, if you stay in Fort Lauderdale, leave extra early for your event and use extra caution on the road.
