Though it’s difficult to tell today, Atlanta initially rose to prominence during the 1800s as a railroad hub. The majority of the city’s rich rail history has been paved over or torn down; however, it remains a major destination on Amtrak’s Crescent line. Tourists visiting Atlanta by train have a choice of hotels near the Amtrak station that offer accommodations for every taste and budget as well as convenient access to must-see attractions.

The Artmore Hotel

The Artmore Hotel is an artistic-themed refuge within one mile of the Amtrak station and steps away from the Arts Center MARTA subway station. Art lovers have a range of options near the hotel, including the Center for Puppetry Arts, Center Stage Theatre and Woodruff Arts Center, home of the High Museum of Art, the Alliance Theatre and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The restaurants and nightlife of Midtown are nearby, but far enough away to ensure a peaceful rest. The hotel’s early 20th century, Mediterranean architecture offers a contrast to the modern office- and condo- buildings in its neighborhood. Guest accommodations consist of two-room suites with contemporary furnishings, iPod docks and rain shower heads. Hotel facilities are highlighted by Studio Lounge, a fashionable cocktail bar with an outdoor fireplace and fountain.

Hotel Palomar Atlanta Midtown

The hotel is within walking distance of Georgia Tech University, the Midtown MARTA subway station; retail, restaurants and nightlife on Peachtree Street; Federal Reserve Bank Atlanta and Piedmont Park, a sprawling green space with exercise trails and a resort-style pool. Accommodations range from modern, city-view guest rooms with iHome docks to spacious suites with Jacuzzi tubs. Amenities include in-room spa services, an open-air rooftop bar and Pacci Ristorante, a gourmet Italian eatery that serves up mussels, sweet potato ravioli and dry-aged steaks. Pets stay for free and without size or weight restrictions.

Super 8 Atlanta Midtown

The Super 8 Atlanta Midtown is a budget hotel in the city’s art district. The property is within several blocks of the Amtrak station, the Savannah College of Art and Design and Ansley Park Playhouse. The Atlantic Station entertainment district is also nearby, offering an outdoor mall, restaurants, bars, cinemas, a children's train and seasonal festivals. Hotel accommodations consist of standard guest rooms with microwaves and mini fridges. Complimentary hotel amenities include breakfast buffet, high-speed Internet access and outdoor parking.
