Mount Buller is a major tourist destination and has 7,000 beds, making it the leader in available accommodations. Lodging is often right on the mountain and close to particular ski slopes or trails. Many Mount Buller hotels offer deals with local ski schools and rental companies. Contact your hotel of choice about discounts and ensure that they are open all year, as many accommodations are only open during the Australian winter.

Small Hotels

The Duck Inn is a boutique-style bed and breakfast that is family-owned and operated. The hotel has a ski, board and clothing rental shop, and offers complimentary 4WD shuttle service to area ski schools. The hotel's restaurant is only open during the Southern Hemisphere's winter season. A ski-in, ski-out bed and breakfast, Andre's is located on the border of the Shakey Knees ski run. The custom-designed hotel has furnishings hand-chosen from rural France; select rooms come with spa bath. A '60s ski lodge theme runs throughout the Mulligatawny Ski Club. The lodge has six bedrooms, two kitchens and two bathrooms. The dining room table, which sits in front of a stone fireplace, seats 10 to 12 people. The lodge also has a barbecue and washing machine.


Hotel Enzian is located near the Chamois Run and Canyon Trial. The hotel's rooms range in size from singles to apartments accommodating six to eight people. Enzian caters to children of all ages and also provides babysitting services. Mid-week package discounts are available. Alberg Hotel is fit for families with apartment-style rooms, complete with kitchenettes. Packages are available for five-day vacations, as well as Mount Buller's Winterfest and Springfest. The hotel also has a pizzeria, bistro and family-style restaurant. Ajax Ski Club has a variety of rooms, ranging in size from two to seven bedrooms. All rooms have en-suite facilities; rooms can be rented as private or shared accommodation. Ajax also has an infrared sauna, laundry facilities and ski-rack storage. Every Friday night the lodge hosts a smorgasbord dinner.


This hotel offers a variety of suites, from studios to three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, lounge and pizzeria. Breathtaker has both an 18-and-over spa, and a family spa and sauna. In 2009, the Hotel Pension Grimus was named "Leading Ski Resort Hotel-Australasia" at the Australian Hotel Management Awards. The hotel is just under 55 yards from the Holden chair lift and just over a half-mile from the ski school. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, lounge, spa, boutique and equipment rental service. Grand Mercure Chalet is a four-star resort with mountain and valley views. This chain resort has an a la carte restaurant, café, two bars, a spa and a sauna. The Grand Mercure has 62 standard, superior rooms and suites.


Alpine Holiday Rentals offers an alternative to hotel or resort accommodations. The company has houses, lodges and apartments for rent for large groups or families needing long-term accommodation. They have properties both on and off the mountain, and offer ski packages that include clothing, equipment rental, ski lessons and lift tickets.
