Hotels in Mont-Tremblant, Canada

by Lisa Mercer Google

Mont-Tremblant, located in Quebec, is a relatively inexpensive alternative to visiting a French ski resort. A pedestrian village, filled with shops, restaurants and hotels, surrounds the mountain. These village hotels, which range from budget to luxury, offer easy access to the lifts, restaurants, shops and nightlife. Some hotels have a typical French Canadian ambiance, while others offer an opportunity to put those frequent hotel-stay points to good use.

Ski In/Ski Out

The magic words "first tracks" put a smile on the faces of dedicated skiers and snowboarders. Sometimes, the need to party hard conflicts with the desire to get up early and explore the untracked powder. Ski-in/ski-out lodging, provided at La Tour des Voyageurs, offers a viable solution. Located steps from the Cabriolet Lift, this upscale hotel includes ski storage in its nightly rates. Ski valet service and Internet access is available for an additional fee. The hotel has four hot tubs and a fitness center, and most of its 216 rooms have fireplaces. Brulerie St. Denis, the on-site restaurant, serves coffee, pastries and waffles in the morning and healthy meals and deserts in the afternoon. If your ski vacation requirements include a spa, the Fairmont Tremblant is a viable ski-in/ski out option. In addition to its fitness center, the Farirmont Amerispa offers massage, facials, body treatments and makeovers.

Lakeside Hotels

Some people love the ski resort nightlife. Others come to the mountains in search of a combination of outdoor activity and solitude. If the latter describes you, Ermitage du Lac, located between the Saint-Bernard chapel and Lac Miroir, is an appropriate choice. Mature pines surround the building, whose warm colors and cedar shingle roof create a serene mood. The 69 rooms at this boutique hotel feature down-filled bedding, a small kitchen, fireplace and balcony. Don't worry about cooking breakfast; a generous one is included in your room rate. Orleans, the hotel lounge, is the place to go for pre-dinner drinks. The hotel, which has ski lockers, gym and whirlpool, is within walking distance to the gondola. The Grand Lodge, located on the shores of Lake Ouimet, is another lakeside option. While in the Mont-Tremblant region, it is not situated in the pedestrian village. Its remote yet convenient location, combined with its full-service spa, makes the Grand Lodge an appropriate choice for those who desire a blend of activity and peace and quiet.

Family-Friendly

A ski vacation may provide a family bonding opportunity, but an inappropriate hotel will turn bonding time into battle time. Your kids may enjoy spending time with you, but sometimes they need some time for themselves. Le Sommet des Neiges hotel, with its game room and pool table, understands their needs. The hotel, located 100 feet from the gondola and close to the Snow School, includes a fitness center, hot tub and ski storage. The library, situated near the fireplace in the lobby, offers quiet repose after a day at the slopes. Its 114 rooms have kitchens and fireplaces. Families on a budget should consider the Country Inns and Suites by Carlton, where kids under 18 stay free. The hotel has a playground for kids who need the occasional ski and snowboard alternative. Internet access, continental breakfast and snacks throughout the day are included in the nightly rates.

Hotel-Point Stays

The Homewood Suites by Hilton Mont-Tremblant is a category six hotel, which means that as of 2010, Hilton Honors members need 40,000 points for a free, one-night stay. The hotel is situated at the bottom of the slopes, in the Place Saint-Bernard district of the pedestrian village. Its 105 studios, one- and two-bedroom suites have kitchens, a dining room area and 37-inch LCD televisions. A full hot-and-cold breakfast buffet is included in your rate. Light snacks are offered in the early evening on Monday through Thursday. Other hotels where you can use or earn frequent stay points include Marriott Residence Inn, which offers free breakfast, and the upscale Le Westin Resort & Spa Tremblant. If you can't bear to miss a workout, Le Westin has a full service gym or the Westin Workout powered by Reebok, an in-room mini fitness center.
