Most of Freiburg’s hotels are located in the city center, allowing guests easy access to the historic old town, the pedestrianized shopping mile and the main train station. Tourists can choose between modern chains, avant garde design and traditional family-owned hotels that emphasize a rustic yet homey South German Black Forest style and atmosphere.

Colombi Hotel

The Colombi Hotel is in Freiburg’s historic city center, close to the main train station and within walking distance of numerous sights, restaurants and shops. It welcomes guests to a luxurious interior of chandeliers, parquet floors and antique furniture. A marble grand staircase with a golden balustrade, reminiscent of a historic palace, leads to the 115 rooms and suites decorated in a classic elegance. Hotel facilities feature an indoor swimming pool under a glass cupola, a spa area with sauna and steam bath and a fitness room. Three restaurants serve regional and international cuisine in a traditional country home setting.

Hotel Schwarzwaelder Hof

The Hotel Schwarwaelder Hof welcomes guests to an authentic Black Forest country ambiance amid Freiburg’s pedestrianized downtown area. All rooms feature an individual design with a combination of German Biedermeier and modern urban style. Mornings at the hotel start with a complimentary breakfast buffet before guests head out to stroll along the cobblestone streets in Freiburg’s city center or explore the rolling hills of the Black Forest outside the city. The on-site restaurant serves a hearty regional cuisine and local wines in a rustic country home setting with ceiling beams, wooden wall paneling and chandeliers.

Park Hotel Post

The Park Hotel Post resides in a historic art nouveau building right next to Freiburg’s beautiful Colombi Park, a 19th century French landscaped garden. The hotel’s interior features an elegant country home design. Wooden furniture, bright fabrics and French cascade windows with flower-patterned curtains create a warm and cozy atmosphere in the rooms and suites, some of which feature private balconies. A hearty breakfast buffet is included with all rooms. At night, guests can grab dinner at one of the various restaurants that lie within a short walk of the hotel.

Hotel Rappen

Guests of the Hotel Rappen enter into a historic building decorated in the regional Black Forest design at the Munsterplatz, one of Freiburg’s main center squares. All rooms are decorated with flower-themed paintings by the local artist Marianne Grepa and come with panorama windows offering sweeping views over the famous Freiburg Minster Cathedral. The on-site restaurant with outdoor square seating offers a breakfast buffet, delicious German pastries, and a lunch and dinner menu with regional cuisine and wine.
