Hotels Close to the Phoenix Airport

by Patrick M. Lind

More than 37 million people passed through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2009, making it the 19th busiest airport in the world. Each passenger only adds to Phoenix's already congested traffic. With this in mind, it sometimes makes sense to stay at a hotel near the airport. The closer you stay, the less chance you have of arriving late for your departure. On top of it, these hotels offer travelers friendly services and perks.

Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport

The Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport puts guests less than 4 miles from the terminals and offers a 24-hour airport shuttle service. Additionally, the Metro Light Rail stops directly in front of the hotel, providing guests with an alternative way to reach downtown. Guest rooms have a comfortable contemporary style and come with free high-speed Internet access. The on-site fitness center and whirlpool stays open 24 hours; guests also relax at the outdoor swimming pool. The hotel has a restaurant with a 24-hour lounge and a cafe that serves Starbucks products. Air travelers print their boarding passes at the lobby's ticket printing kiosk.

Aloft Phoenix Hotel Phoenix-Airport

The Aloft Phoenix Hotel Phoenix-Airport offers a refreshingly different setting, a far cry from the standard airport chain hotel. From the lobby to the rooms, the hotel has a stylish and hip feeling filled with vibrant colors and experimental, modernist designs. Guests rooms feature 9-foot ceilings, over-sized windows and walk-in showers; standard amenities include a connectivity station that allows guests to connect their laptops, iPods and MP3 players to the large flat-screen television. The hotel has a "grab-n-go" snack bar with healthy treats and a lively lobby bar. Guests print their flight boarding passes in the lobby.

Radisson Hotel Phoenix Airport North

Located 3.5 miles from Sky Harbor, the Radisson Hotel Phoenix Airport North provides a complimentary airport shuttle service to help ease the strain of getting to the terminals. It also offers a parking special that includes accommodation and up to 14 days of free parking. Guests walk to the nearest Light Rail station, which provides transportation to downtown. The on-site restaurant serves Southwestern-influenced American cuisine in a casual setting. All 210 guest rooms come with free wireless Internet access, and kids under 17 stay for free. The heated outdoor swimming pool stays open all year.

Residence Inn Phoenix Airport

Guests of the Residence Inn Phoenix Airport stay near the Red Mountain Freeway and Hohokam Expressway junction, just under 4 miles north of the airport. The expansive COFCO Chinese Cultural Center lies kitty-corner to the hotel. The hotel hosts an evening social hour on Tuesdays and Wednesdays where guests can mingle and enjoy complimentary drinks. Mornings start with a free breakfast buffet; other free services include an airport shuttle and wireless Internet access. All guest rooms feature a sitting area, high ceilings and a fully equipped kitchen. Guests can bring their pets, but must pay a nonrefundable sanitation fee.
