The Denver Coliseum is an historic venue that hosts a wide variety of events and shows including circuses, motor shows, rodeos and concerts. Located just three miles from the heart of downtown Denver and near the intersection of interstates 70 and 25, the Coliseum has a large selection of lodging nearby for those looking to stay overnight after a show.
The Oxford Hotel
This historic hotel is smack in the middle of Denver in the lower downtown (LoDo) area. The Coliseum is within walking distance of much of Denver's best entertainment, including Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies; Pepsi Center, home of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche; and the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The hotel also is across the street from Denver Union Station, where you can catch a train to other points within the city or state. The Oxford is a luxury, boutique hotel that advertises itself as Denver's first hotel, with an 1891 opening. It has a health and fitness center, three dining rooms and an adjacent spa.
Another hotel in downtown Denver, the Hotel Monaco advertises an "eclectic hotel experience" that "indulge[s] your senses." The property is within walking distance of the Colorado Convention Center, the 16th Street Mall and Larimer Square. If you were wondering what "eclectic hotel experience" means, the Monaco exemplifies it with touches like leopard print robes and pet goldfish. Guests also have access to in-room dining, an on-site northern Italian restaurant, a salon and spa, and an evening wine reception.
Westin Tabor Downtown
The Westin Tabor Hotel is another downtown property within walking distance of shops, restaurants and attractions like the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The hotel is adjacent to the 16th Street Mall. The 19-floor hotel offers rooms and suites with what it calls "high-tech comfort," a concept that includes touches like 37-inch flat panel TVs, iPod docks and laptop interfaces. Enjoy the classic urban-meets-mountains skyline of Denver from the rooftop pool and deck or unwind in the evenings with candlelit piano music and chair massages in the lobby. Other services include a gym with a basketball half-court and in-room spa services.
Holiday Inn Denver Central
One of the closest hotels to the Coliseum, the Holiday Inn Denver Central is just 1.5 miles away. Unlike the other hotels here, the Holiday Inn is not downtown, but is just north on the Interstate 25 corridor, north of the intersection with I-70. This location makes it a little more convenient for north or west travel to destinations like Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park and the myriad ski areas accessed via I-70. More basic than the others, the Holiday Inn offers such amenities as a health and fitness center, a whirlpool, an outdoor pool and a business center. Teddy's restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
