The Dallas Forth Worth International Airport covers nearly 30 square miles, with 174 gates used by 19 different airlines. It's one of the busiest airports in the country, so it's no surprise that there are several places to stay nearby, from on-site luxury hotels to budget chains.
You don't have to leave the airport if you stay in one of two on-site hotels. The nine-story Grand Hyatt DFW is located at International Terminal D and may appeal to travelers looking for a sleek, contemporary hotel. The lobby is decorated with steel chrome trimmings, tile and marble floors, and wood panel accent walls. Rooms are painted in neutral taupes, off-whites and pale yellows and have flat-screen TVs, soaking tubs and separate tiled showers. The ninth-floor fitness room and spa overlook the runways. If you need to work some kinks out after a long flight, hit the gym, open 24 hours, at the Hyatt Regency DFW, located at Terminal C. This 811-room hotel is also contemporary in its design and furnishings; the sparse lobby has white walls with wood accents. Unwind in the sports bar or grill or take a few laps in the outdoor pool. There's also a restaurant on site.
If you're looking for a little more space than the average hotel room, consider staying at an all-suites property close to the airport. The Homewood Suites by Hilton is 1.5 miles from the airport and offers park-and-fly packages with free shuttles to the airport. You can choose studio, one- or two-bedroom accommodations, with full kitchens. The Best Western DFW Airport Suites is less than a mile from the airport. Rooms are basic with simple furnishings but have refrigerators, microwaves and separate living areas. Extra perks include a free shuttle to the airport, complimentary breakfast and an outdoor swimming pool.
If you're looking for a basic, economical place to stay near the airport, you have plenty of choices, as there's a slew of budget-priced chains within a five mile radius. The AAA three-diamond Super 8 DFW Airport North is only a half mile away. Simply furnished rooms, with marble tile baths, are accessed through interior corridors and guests can take a free shuttle back and forth to the airport. The Sleep Inn, 1.5 miles from the airport, has an indoor pool, free breakfast and free airport shuttle, and it may appeal to anyone looking for basic lodgings at wallet-pleasing prices.
The family-friendly Great Wolf Lodge is located less than four miles from the airport. It's top-selling feature for kids is the on-site water park, complete with a four-story fort with slides, bridges and spray stations. The resort also has forest-themed suites with log bunk beds and animal prints. The large-scale Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, about four miles from the Dallas Fort Worth Airport, is an entertainment complex, with shops, restaurants and hotel under a soaring glass atrium. The 1,511-room hotel overlooks Lake Grapevine.
