Hotels Close to the Calgary Stampede

The annual Calgary Stampede, billed as "the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth," is held in and around Stampede Park in Downtown Calgary. A number of hotels are located within short walking distance from the venue. These represent lodging options to suit all budgets, including boutique hotels, big-name chains and large, luxury properties.

Hotel Arts

Hotel Arts is a 175-room boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Calgary, about three blocks from Stampede Park. It is notable for the art collections displayed throughout the property, representing a diverse range of contemporary glass art, sculptures, murals and paintings. In keeping with the hotel's artistic inspiration, the decor of the rooms and suites is contemporary and elegant with sleek modern furnishings in deep earth tones and walls draped with rich indigo fabrics. High-end in-room amenities include LCD flat-screen televisions, Aveda bath products and plush, pillow-top beds. The penthouse suites offer a private in-room Jacuzzi. Hotel Arts hosts two restaurants, the lounge-style Raw Bar, which offers exotic dishes and freshly prepared sushi; and Saint Germain with its fine French cuisine, bistro lunch menu and nightly cocktail hour.

Marriott Calgary

Marriott Calgary is a AAA four diamond hotel in Downtown Calgary, less than a mile from the annual Calgary Stampede. The 23-floor hotel offers 384 guest rooms, 10 suites, three restaurants and an on-site Starbucks. All the rooms feature plush, down bedding, granite vanities and ergonomic work desks. Guests staying in concierge-level rooms enjoy upgraded amenities like larger flat-screen televisions as well as a complimentary continental breakfast, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and evening hors d'oeuvres. It is within walking distance from Stampede Park and is connected directly to the Telus Convention Center, the Calgary Tower and the Glenbow Museum via an indoor walkway. The 405 guest rooms and suites feature classically elegant decor and furnishings. Options range from 225-square-foot standard rooms to the 800-square-foot Royal Suite, which hosted Queen Elizabeth II when she visited Calgary in 1990. The eighth floor is dedicated to Fairmont Gold level rooms and an exclusive lounge where guests enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and canapes. Best Western Suites Downtown

The Best Western Suites Downtown in Calgary offers spacious but budget-friendly rooms and suites within walking distance of Stampede Park and numerous shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. All room rates include a daily continental breakfast and high-speed Internet access. Five configurations are available, ranging from 405-square-foot executive king rooms to 818-square-foot two-bedroom suites. All the options include a refrigerator, microwave and sitting area; some feature a built-in hot tub and a fully equipped kitchen. In addition to its 124 guest suites, the Best Western offers a fitness center, sauna and guest laundry facilities.
