Hotels Close to Atlantic City

by Joe Fletcher

Atlantic City is a vibrant destination that combines relaxing beach scenery with a cosmopolitan atmosphere filled with shopping, fine dining, casino gaming and nightlife. Some may prefer a quieter atmosphere than the Boardwalk and Pacific Avenue offers while still maintaining convenient access to the city's attractions. For visitors with these preferences, smaller, quieter towns like Absecon, Ventnor City and Egg Harbor City provide accommodations within minutes of the Boardwalk and casinos.

what is a fallback

Absecon

Not only is Absecon a smaller, quieter town than Atlantic City proper; it's also closer to the Marina District of Atlantic City than many of Atlantic City's own lodging properties. The marina is home to three casinos -- the Borgata, the Trump Marina and Harrah's -- so you'll be within a few miles of these options while staying away from the hustle and bustle of central Atlantic City. Lodging in Absecon is concentrated on US-30, also called Absecon Boulevard or White Horse Pike. Options include the Rodeway Inn, just two miles from the marina, the Holiday Inn Express and the Fairfield Inn.

Brigantine Beach

Absecon is located west of the Atlantic City marina area while Brigantine Beach is an island located north across the bay. Unlike Absecon, Brigantine Beach boasts oceanfront hotels while giving you similar access to marina-area casinos. The island, uniquely among New Jersey barrier islands according to the Brigantine Beach Chamber of Commerce, is also home to an 18-hole golf course. The Brigantine Beach Club is an oceanfront resort with two pools, just three miles from the marina. Farther north, Celebrity Resorts provides ocean-view lodging and an oceanfront restaurant within a 15-minute drive of Atlantic City.

Ventnor City

Ventnor City borders Atlantic City to the south and is actually connected to the town via the Boardwalk and main arteries like Pacific Avenue. Ventnor's Boardwalk is quiet and residential but allows you to seamlessly connect with Atlantic City's Boardwalk, particularly southern casinos like the Tropicana and Hilton. Like Atlantic City and Brigantine Beach, Ventnor is an oceanfront locale with beaches. While the town is best known for its small inns and bed and breakfasts, it also offers the Surrey Beach House, which is located a short walk from the beach and Boardwalk.

Golf Resorts

In addition to its beach, gambling and shopping, Atlantic City is a venerable golf destination, with a variety of courses spread around the greater area. Naturally, these courses aren't concentrated in downtown areas but occupy the open spaces of surrounding towns. The Renault Winery Resort is a distinct property located in Egg Harbor City, where you'll also find the Atlantic City International Airport. The property has a winery, a golf course adjacent to the vineyards and the Tuscany House Hotel, making for a relaxing but engaging stay. Another option is the Seaview Resort and Spa, located in Galloway, also within close proximity to the airport. The resort has nearly 300 rooms, two championship golf courses and a spa.
