Hotels in Charlotte's Executive Park

by Alexander Grouch

Executive Park is an area of Charlotte, North Carolina, that is approximately six miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. While there are hotels closer to Charlotte Airport, the Executive Park area hotels are more geared toward the business traveler. Even if you are not a businessperson, Executive Park is worthwhile due to its proximity to local malls and amusement options. As of October 2010, there were three hotels in Executive Park: Marriott Executive Park, Comfort Inn Executive Park and Hilton Charlotte Executive Park.

Charlotte Marriott Executive Park

Charlotte Marriott Executive Park is one of Executive Park's most business-friendly hotels. In addition to standard hotel amenities such as cable television and wireless Internet, the Marriott Executive Park has conference rooms, a business center and nearby access to Charlotte's main financial district. With 21 conference rooms (a total of 15,500 square feet), the Marriott Executive Park is an ideal location for meetings. The hotel is located close to the SouthPark Mall if you need a break from the meetings.

Hilton Charlotte Executive Park

Although the Hilton Charlotte Executive Park does not have quite as much meeting space as the Marriott, it still has over 10,000 square feet of suitable meeting space, plus a restaurant/lounge for lunch or dinner meetings. In addition, the Charlotte Grand Ballroom is an ideal place for receptions tied to business meetings or events in general. The Hilton Charlotte Executive Park also has plenty of amenities for those who want to get away from the business world for awhile, such as a pool and room service.

Comfort Inn Executive Park

Although the Comfort Inn Executive Park has some meeting spaces, it is much less of a business hotel than the Hilton or Marriott. However, it is also generally cheaper. Noteworthy amenities here include free breakfasts, newspapers, business center and copy/fax services. If you happen to stay on a Tuesday or Wednesday, make sure to partake in the weekly "manager's reception." In the spring and summer months, the hotel also has a pool available for guests.

Activities in the Area

Charlotte's Executive Park is close to a slew of entertainment options perfect for adults and kids alike. One nearby attraction is the Carowinds Theme Park. Carowinds has everything from roller coasters to Halloween-theme fall festivities. Other attractions accessible to Executive Park include Lowe's Motor Speedway and three malls. In addition, downtown Charlotte is only a short drive or cab ride away.
