Aberdeen is set on the northeast coast of Scotland, a train journey of just over two hours from the capital city, Edinburgh. It’s also known as the Granite City for the stone so much of it is built from. Aberdeen enjoys a lively nightlife thanks to its large student population and its position as the headquarters of Scotland’s offshore oil industry. It also has beautiful beaches but very little truly warm weather, although there’s daylight for 18 hours in midsummer. Most of Aberdeen's hotels are within walking distance of the city's main thoroughfare, Union Street, and there are options to suit all budgets.
