Hotel Rooms in Minnesota

by Alison Merfeld

Minnesota is a northern Midwestern state that's home to the biggest mall in the U.S., the Mall of America. Whether you're traveling on Interstate 35 and looking for an overnight stop during your travels, or wanting to spend the week fishing on one of the Great Lakes, you'll have many choices of resorts and hotels. In the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, some hotels have well-known restaurants.

Mall of America Hotels

The Homewood Suites Mall of America is directly across from the mall. Guestrooms consist of suites with living rooms, full kitchens and free Internet access. Extended-stay suites include a complimentary breakfast. For easy access in and out of Minneapolis, the hotel is located across the street from the transit station. For a night out, it's within one mile of restaurants such as Tiger Sushi and the Twin City Grill. A two-minute-walk from the Mall of America, the Country Inn & Suites at Mall of America is a smoke-free hotel with spacious queen- or king-sized bed guestrooms. Rooms offer kitchenette, Nintendo game station and free Internet access; suites include whirlpool bathtubs. The hotel provides an airport shuttle, two indoor swimming pools and complimentary breakfast. For a non-shopping day, consider visiting Fort Snelling, three miles away, or touring the 14,000 acres at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, a little over one mile away.

Hotels in Twin Cities

The Best Western Bandana Square in St. Paul was a train repair shop before being converted into a hotel. The 110 rooms with floor-to-ceiling-windows provide Internet access and duvet bedding; microwaves and refrigerators are available upon request. Pets are allowed for a one-time fee. The hotel is within two miles of Como Park, where a zoo, walking trails and a conservatory are located. Situated in downtown Minneapolis, The Marquette is within walking distance of both Target Field and the Target Center. This hotel provides guestrooms with oversize windows for views of the city, living areas and pillow-top mattresses. The Marquette is home to two well-known Minneapolis restaurants. Basil's Restaurant, on the third floor, offers a menu of sea scallops, steak burgers and penne pasta prepared by Chef Mark Stankey. The Mission American Kitchen and Bar, on the main floor, prepares a varied menu including deviled eggs, oysters and ahi tuna tacos.
