Clearwire is a relatively newer Internet service provider in the Redding area. The company offers three types of service packages: ClearValue, ClearPremimum and ClearBusiness, with residential packages starting at $32 a month, as of the time of this publishing. Download speeds can reach up to 2 Mbps and uploads can reach 256 Kbps, depending on the type of service package.

HughesNet

HughesNet is a company that offers three satellite-based high-speed Internet service packages: Basic, Power 150 and Power 200. The basic service comes with download speeds of 1 Mbps and uploads of 20 Kbps. The Power 150 package has download speeds of 1.5 Mbps and uploads of 250 Kbps. The Power 200 package comes with a 2 Mbps download speed and 300 Kbps upload speed. As of the time of this publishing, the monthly fees per package were $39.99, $59.99 and $89.99, respectively.

Charter

Charter Communications offers high-speed Internet service in Redding that can be purchased separately or bundled with the company's cable TV and phone service. The least expensive broadband Internet package comes with download speeds of 1 Mbps and upload speeds of 128 Kbps, as well as 10 email addresses and 20 MB of web space for $19.99 a month as of the time of this publishing.

Comcast

Comcast offers high-speed Internet for as low as $19.99 a month for new customers in Redding for the first six months of service, depending on the type of package ordered. The deal also includes a download speed of 12 to 15 Mbps per second and a free suite of computer security software that Comcast estimates has a retail value of $160 at the time of this publishing.

WildBlue

WildBlue is a company that offers satellite-based Internet service, similar to HughesNet. The standard package fee in Redding is $49.95 per month at the time of this publishing, which includes download speeds of up to 512 Kbps and upload speeds of about 128 Kbps, as well as free antivirus and spyware protection for the first 12 months of service.
