Located in the southwestern Pennsylvania county of Somerset, the town of Boswell is close enough to major metropolitan areas such as Pittsburgh, Latrobe, Johnstown and Somerset to have a fully developed high-speed Internet infrastructure. As such, you have several choices when it comes to a high-speed Internet connection in Boswell, including Comcast and Verizon.

Comcast Performance Special Offer

A package specifically designed for customers new to Comcast, the XFinity Performance Special Offer plan provides download speeds up to 15Mbps and upload speeds up to 3Mbps. The service costs about $30 a month for the first six months, before increasing to $45 a month for months seven through 12, as of June 2011. The package includes seven email accounts that each have 10GB of storage. The service also comes with Constant Guard, a security suite that includes Norton Antivirus. Additionally, it features over 3,500 streaming games available through ESPN3's website.

Comcast Performance Starter

Comcast's basic cable Internet plan, the Performance Starter provides download speeds of up to 6Mbps, upload speeds up to 1Mbps and costs about $50 a month. It's marketed as an upgrade from DSL service. As with the Special Offer package, it includes seven email accounts with 10GB of storage, Constant Guard, the ability to stream over 3,500 live games from ESPN3's website. Additionally, the package provides access to Comcast.net.

Comcast Extreme 105

The premier package in Comcast's list of services, Extreme 105 boasts download speeds of up to 105Mbps and upload speeds up to 10Mbps. It's marketed as a service for gamers and video streamers. The service costs about $200 a month, and comes with seven email accounts of 10GB storage, the Constant Guard suite, the ability to stream over 3,500 live games from ESPN3 and access to Comcast.net, as of June 2011.

HughesNet Satellite

As a satellite Internet service provider, HughesNet requires that you have a previously installed satellite dish or that you allow a Hughes technician to install a satellite onto your house. The company offers three basic packages: Basic, Power 150 and Power 200. The Basic plan offers download speeds of 1Mbps, upload speeds of 200Kbps and a download threshold of 200MB. It costs $40 a month for new users and $60 a month after three months, as of June 2011. The Power 150 plan offers download speeds of 1.5Mbps, upload speeds of 250Kbps and a download threshold of 300MB. It costs $60 a month for new users and $80 a month after three months. The Power 200 plan offers download speeds of 2Mbps, upload speeds of 300Kbps and a download threshold of 400MB. It costs $90 a month for new users and $110 a month after three months.
