Thanks to deregulation of the telecommunications industry in California, residents of the city of Landers and the surrounding areas have multiple choices when it comes to picking a high-speed Internet service provider. And the various companies serving the city and region have unique service packages, which include varying pricing and upload/download speeds.

Verizon

Verizon offers two high-speed Internet packages for Landers residents. The less-expensive package comes with download speeds of up to 1 megabit per second (Mbps) and uploads of 384 kilobits per second (Kbps). As of the time of this publication, the introductory price was $19.99 a month with a two-year contract. The other package comes with download speeds of up to 7.1 Mbps and uploads of 768 Kbps for a price of $39.99 a month with a two-year contract.

Comcast

Comcast offers high-speed Internet in Landers for an introductory price of $19.99 a month for the first six months of service, at the time of this publication. The package comes with download speeds of 12 to 15 Mbps, as well as a free suite of antivirus and anti-spam software that the company values at $120. The company also offers "bundle" deals, where you can get Internet, cable TV and phone service together at a reduced rate.

Wild Blue

Wild Blue is a company that offers satellite-based high-speed Internet in Landers. Customers are provided with satellite mini-dishes and modems to receive service. The company has three packages from which to choose: Value, Select and Pro. The value package, which is for low-volume users, comes with download speeds of up to 512 Kbps and uploads of up to 128 Kbps. The Select package comes with download speeds of up to 1 Mbps and uploads of 200 Kbps. The Pro package is the speediest, at 1.5 Mbps downloads and 256 Kbps uploads. The standard upfront fee is $150, as of the time of this publication, but the company periodically offers $50 off deals for first-time customers, along with free installation.

HughesNet

HughesNet is a high-speed Internet service company that uses mini satellite dishes to provide customers with service. The company offers three different types of packages in Landers: Basic, Power 150 and Power 200. The basic package comes with download speeds of 1 Mbps and uploads of 200 Kbps. Power 150 consists of 1.5 Mbps downloads and 250 Kbps uploads. And the Power 200 package comes with download speeds of up to 2 Mbps and uploads of 250 Kbps. As of the time of this publication, packages range in cost from $39.99 to $89.99 a month.
