High Speed Internet Hook Up Choices in Lansing, Michigan

Consumers in the Lansing area have several choices when selecting a high speed Internet service provider. Someone looking for a home Internet connection can choose between AT&T; U-verse and Comcast X-Finity plans, while anyone looking for a mobile Internet connection can choose amongseveral plans offered by Verizon and T-Mobile.

AT&T; U-Verse

Consumers in Lansing can choose among four U-verse DSL high speed Internet packages. The Internet Max Plus package offers consumers a download speed of 18 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speed of 800 kilobits per second (Kbps) for $39.95 a month. The Internet Max, Internet Elite and Internet Pro packages offer download speeds of 12, six and three Mbps and upload speeds of 800, 768 and 512 Kbps for $29.95, $24.95 and $19.95 a month respectively, as of 2011. Each plan offers subscribers access to AT&T; mobile hotspots, 11 email accounts and online video and photo storage. U-verse plans include 250 gigabites of data with an additional charge of $10 for every 50 GB of data used over.

Comcast XFINITY

Comcast XFINITY offers consumers in the Lansing area three options for home internet service. The Economy Internet Service plan offers download speeds of 1.5 Mbps and upload speeds of 384 Kbps for $41.95 a month, while the Performance Starter and Performance plan offer download speeds of six and 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 1 and 2 Mbps for $49.95 and $59.95 a month, as of 2011. Each plan offers subscribers seven email addresses with 10 GB of storage and access to Comcast.net and ESPN3.com. XFINITY plans have no monthly data usage cap.

Verizon Mobile Broadband

For the Lansing area, Verizon offers tiered 3G and 4G LTE mobile broadband plans based upon your equipment and expected data usage. Subscribers who only want service for their tablet computers can choose any of the available four tiers, but laptop and netbook users must purchase one of the top two tiers of service. Each tier has a cap on the amount of data you can use each month and a preset overage fee per every gigabyte over the monthly allowance. Verizon wireless Internet downloads between 5 and 12Mbps and uploads between 2 and 5Mbps. Tiered 3G and 4G plans range between $20 and $80 a month, as of 2011.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile offers three monthly data plans that allow subscribers access to T-Mobile hotspots throughout the Lansing area. T-Mobile offers plans that allow subscribers to pay depending on the amount of data usage they want per month. T-Mobile's 10 GB plan is $84.99 a month, while the five GB and two GB plans cost $49.99 and $39.99 a month respectively. Download speeds on T-Mobile's 4G network vary between 12 Mbps to five Mbps, and upload speeds vary between 1 and 2 Mbps. T-Mobile plans do not charge for exceeding your monthly data allotment.
