The Valparaiso Trick-or-Treat Fun Night is held annually in the downtown square of Valparaiso. This free event features ghostly fun appropriate for the smallest trick-or-treaters and their families. Kids of all ages will enjoy trick-or-treating at local business, cider, doughnuts and hayrides around the downtown square. Decorations and attractions are more fun than scary, so kids of all ages can participate in this haunted trail through historic, downtown Valparaiso.
Amhurst Asylum Haunted Attraction
The Amhurst Asylum Haunted Attraction (amhurstasylum.com), located in Valparaiso, is an old abandoned hospital for the criminally insane transformed into a haunted attraction for those looking for a truly scary experience. Visitors travel through the house and grounds as insane characters look for escape and Dr. Amhurst demonstrates his horrible experiments. This attraction is not for children younger than 10. Visitors younger than the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. The tour lasts approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
Chaos Haunted and Historical Tours
Chaos Haunted and Historical Tours (Chaostours.webs.com) features a Halloween tour of the Old Jail Museum, courthouse, historic opera house and other haunted places in downtown Valparaiso. The tour then visits Sunset Hill Farm and Ghost Road that contains a lonesome cemetery said to be haunted and filled with phantoms. Tours begin at the Porter County Courthouse in downtown Valparaiso. Relive the area's legends, mysteries and true ghost stories as trained and entertaining guides share the stories of these haunted places.
Guse Corn Maze
The Guse Corn Maze (gusechristmastrees.com) is 10 miles southeast of Valparaiso in the town of Wanatah. A part of the Guse Christmas Tree Farm, the corn maze covers more than 7 acres. Along with the corn maze, enjoy kid's activities, bonfires, a pumpkin patch and a pumpkin train. On weekends throughout October, the corn maze becomes the haunted corn maze for a spooky take on corn maze fun. The haunted corn maze is suitable for kids of all ages.
