Girlie Birthday Party Themes

by Tracey Bleakley, Demand Media

If your daughter is a true girlie girl, plan a birthday party that she'll be sure to appreciate. Whether she's a princess-in-training, a budding baker or just loves to be pampered, use her interests to help you find the perfect party theme. Once you choose your theme, it will easy to plan the food, decorations and activities for your party.

    Princess Party

Treat your girl like royalty with a princess theme party. Let them don your dress-up clothes or invite guests to wear their own princess garb to the party. Make paper crowns for the girls to decorate with fabric paints and adhesive jewels when they arrive. Play games like "Pin the Crown on the Princess" (like "Pin the Tail on the Donkey") and "Pass the Tiara" (like "Hot Potato"). Bubble wands, glitter play dough and lip gloss are a few party favor ideas for your royal ball.

    Baking Party

Does your daughter love to help you in the kitchen? Treat her to a baking-themed party. Cookie bouquets make cute decorations and the cookies make yummy party favors. Buy an inexpensive apron for each girl to decorate with fabric paints and adhesive jewels and take home later. Set up a cupcake- or cookie-decorating station. Make a cake that looks like a giant cupcake for the birthday cake.

    Spa Party

Turn your home into a spa for a party that your older daughter and her friends will love. Invite a few adults to help out and set up stations where the girls can get pedicures and manicures and have their hair and makeup done. Take a group picture of the girls once they are all dolled up and make copies later to send with your thank-you notes. Send the guests home with inexpensive make-up bags filled with travel-sized beauty products.

    Sleepover Party

Every girl loves a slumber party. Even if your little girl is too young for a real sleepover, you can still have a sleepover-themed party. Invite the guests to wear their pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal and pillow. Let the girls decorate white pillow cases with fabric pens to take home with them when the party ends. Spread out blankets and sleeping bags and show a movie and serve popcorn. Stack powdered donuts on a cake stand in the shape of a birthday cake.
