Fun Things for Teens to Do in Livingston County, Michigan

Livingston County, Michigan, is approximately 45 miles northwest of Detroit. Ranging from suburban to rural, Livingston County offers teens opportunities for fun in both indoor and outdoor venues. Teens can take advantage of local parks and lakes or head inside for paintball, go-karts and other entertainment. The range of activities is sure to offer a fun option for any teen.

Huron Clinton Metroparks: Kensington Metropark

Located in Brighton, Michigan, within Livingston County, Kensington Metropark ( is an expansive park offering a wealth of both summer and winter activities. In the summer, teens can enjoy the Splash and Blast water area featuring water slides, biking, canoeing, horse trails, swimming, hiking and disc golf. There is a nature center on-site that frequently offers wagon rides. Fun winter activities for teens include sledding, skating, tobogganing, snowboarding, ice fishing and cross-country skiing. Annual passes are available for family purchase or daily passes can be purchased. Some activities require equipment rental.

Kensington Valley Ice House

Teens can pursue organized hockey or figure skating, including coaching and lessons, at the Kensington Valley Ice House ( Those wishing to have fun also can participate in open skate, a less-formal opportunity to spend some time on the ice. Teens that enjoy paintball can participate at Hell Survivors Paintball Playfield ( in Pinckney. This paintball facility offers teens equipment rental, as well as a fully stocked pro shop and multiple courses for play. The game encompasses strategy and sport as teens move about the play field, seeking to eliminate opponents from opposing teams by shooting them with paintballs. Private games also can be booked for teens seeking fun with a group.

Great Escape Family Fun Center

Howell, Michigan, is home to the Great Escape Family Fun Center ( Teens seeking fun entertainment can race go-karts, play air hockey and arcade games or compete in Great Shot, where teams driving bumper cars compete to score points with whiffle balls. The Great Escape Family Fun Center also has a miniature golf course. Activities can be purchased separately, averaging around $5 each, or teens can purchase arm bands on special nights to gain access to unlimited activities.
