Florida Hotels With Water Parks

by Ginger Yapp

Florida is a popular choice for families seeking a fun and sun-soaked vacation destination: the state is known for its beaches and warm climate. Many Florida-located hotels even have water parks on-site, allowing parents to relax by the pool while their children splash around, enjoying water slides, wave pools and other aquatic activities. Most water park hotels in Florida offer special packages for vacationing families.

Clarion Resort & Waterpark

Clarion Resort & Waterpark, located in Kissimmee, Florida, is a one-stop destination for family-friendly fun in the Orlando area. The hotel has a spa for mom and dad, a teen-activity center, a children's playroom and the large Mindy O water park on-site. The hotel's water park has more than 50,000 square feet of water fun, and runs with over 120,000 gallons of water. The hotel itself is decorated with a tropical theme, and rooms offer premium cable channels as well as pay-per-view movies. If you are hungry, check out one of the hotel's four in-house restaurants: Sarah Star Cafe offers traditional American fare and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Mindy O's Melting Pot Bar & Grill is a poolside snack shack; Auzzie's Lounge is more suited to the grown-ups, with a wine bar and appetizers; and The Ice Cream Shoppe offers after-dinner snacks.

Nickelodeon Suites Resort

The Nickelodeon Suites Resort, located in Orlando, is as kid-friendly as they come, featuring two outdoor water parks -- the Oasis and the Lagoon -- in addition to 777 spacious rooms decorated with characters from Nickelodeon TV shows, a 3,000-square-foot arcade and nightly entertainment shows. The hotel's enormous water parks feature wave pools, slides, saunas, poolside cabanas and a lazy river. The resort's restaurant options include the casual Nicktoons Cafe and the Lagoon Bar and Grill, as well as the hotel's in-house food court. Every morning, kids can eat at a breakfast buffet visited by their favorite Nickelodeon characters.

Liki Tiki Village Resort

Liki Tiki Village Resort is a Hawaiian-themed resort and water park that appeals to families looking for island fun. The hotel, situated in Orlando near Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, boasts 658 condo-style suites, each equipped with a dining room, full kitchen, living room, and washer and dryer. The water park, Liki Tiki Lagoon, has a wave pool, five water slides, a waterfall and a man-made underwater volcano. Offshore, the hotel offers guests on-site mini-golf, basketball courts and shuffleboard. Poolside, the hotel's casual restaurant -- Shipwreck Sally's Bar & Grill -- sells traditional American meals and snacks.

Doral Golf Resort & Spa

Doral Golf Resort & Spa, located in Miami, Florida, opened in 1962, offering golf enthusiasts three challenging golf courses to play on vacation. The hotel's full-service spa was opened in 1987 to expand the hotel's appeal to non-golfing travelers. In 1999, the Doral completed work on its water park, the Blue Lagoon, which features multiple pools and a 125-foot water slide. The hotel's rooms are clustered into villa-like structures with views of the golf course and the hotel's gardens. Rooms at the Doral include balconies, well-stocked mini bars and whirlpool tubs. Hungry patrons can visit one of the Doral's many culinary offerings: Champions Sports Bar serves hearty sandwiches; Bungalou's Bar and Grill dishes out light meals on an outdoor patio; and Tarrazza Restaurant and Cafe serves pastries and sandwiches. Guests may also want to explore Java Zone, Doral's in-house cafe, as well as Bossa Nova Lounge, the hotel's Latin-inspired bar.
