With Florida's generally warm temperatures throughout the year, it is possible to go swimming in the ocean, participate in fishing charters and make reservations for a golf vacation at almost any time. Whether you're traveling for a week-long vacation to Walt Disney World near Orlando or wanting to catch some of your favorite baseball teams during their spring practice, there are hotels a short drive from these activities.

Golf Resorts

The Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach provides an 18-hole golf course developed by course designer Pete Dye that is surrounded by beaches and palm trees. While you're golfing, the children can be building sandcastles, attending a pool party and participating on nature hikes with the hotel's Sawgrass Xplorers program that's geared toward children of all ages. Decorated in warm yellows and tans, the 508 rooms offer Internet access, dining areas, separate living rooms and views of the golf course. Situated in Palm Beach, the PGA National Resort is home to year-round golf tournaments. Five 18-hole courses are located on-site and were designed by golf greats such as Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. Each course is a par 72 that contain waterways and bunkers. Room amenities range from robes to seating areas and private balconies. The resort's candlelit restaurant, Ironwood Grille, prepares crab soup, ribs and filet mignon.

Disney Hotels

Located in Lake Buena Vista, Disney offers value, luxury and villa-style accommodations. If traveling on a budget, the Pop Century Resort is decorated in bright colors with oversize dance cutouts, bowling pins and 20th century catch phrases on the sides of the four-story hotel. Rooms include Internet access, a small dining area and mini-refrigerators. The hotel provides three outdoor pools: one shaped as a bowling pin, one as a flower and one as a computer monitor. Instead of multiple restaurants, the Disney value resort offers one food court-style restaurant that prepares burgers, pizzas and sandwiches. For a larger space, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas are designed to appear like African huts. Rooms offer views of the savannas and include full-kitchens, living ares with oversize furnishings, king-size beds and bathrooms with whirlpools. If traveling with small children, the hotel provides babysitting services if you want go to on a date or need additional help at the parks. A fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, playground and three on-site restaurants add to the amenities.

Fishing Resorts

Hawks Cay Island Resort in Duck Key in the Florida Keys provides fishing charters that range from light tackle to backcountry fishing to offshore fishing on the Atlantic Ocean. For guests staying back, resort amenities include five outdoor swimming pools with beach access and ocean views, a lagoon and an on-site spa. The 177 rooms range from standard to two-bedroom villas with ocean and pool views. Located on Crescent Beach in St. Augustine, the Devil's Elbow Fishing Resort is surrounded by acres of saltwater fishing. The hotel's near the Intracoastal Waterway and the Matanzas Inlet, providing a wealth of fish during the day or night. The cottage-style accommodations with tin roofs and private porches furnished with rocking chairs offer full kitchens, living rooms and two bedrooms. Resort amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, boat rentals and a fish and tackle store. The resort provides discounts during mid-season, from September to January.

Spring Training Hotels

Approximately 15 major league baseball teams travel to Florida for spring training each year. A nine-minute-drive from Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, where the New York Yankees play, the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel is next to the Hillsborough River. During spring training, the hotel offers special baseball discounts to guests. The 277 rooms provide free Internet access, feather down comforters and private, furnished balconies. A complimentary shuttle that travels 3 miles from the hotel, an outdoor swimming pool and an on-site fitness center add to the amenities. The Fairfield Inn and Suites Jupiter is a 10-minute-drive from Roger Dean Stadium, where the St. Louis Cardinals and Florida Marlins play. The pet-friendly guest rooms, decorated in tans, grays and burnt oranges, include free Internet access, newspapers and sitting areas; some rooms include full kitchens.
