Fitzpatrick Hotels in New York

by Susan Berg

Irish hospitality, lavish accommodations and prime Manhattan locations are three characteristics that make Fitzpatrick Hotels an ideal option for those staying in New York City. These boutique hotels are privately owned and have been operated by the same Irish family for over 30 years.

Locations and Amenities

The Fitzpatrick Hotel has two locations in New York City. Fitzpatrick Manhattan is found at the center of Midtown Manhattan at 687 Lexington Avenue. Fitzpatrick Grand Central is only 12 blocks away at 141 East 44th Street. Both locations offer similar, elegantly styled accommodations and services. Amenities offered at both locations include wired and wireless Internet access, iPod docking stations, bathrobes, spa-inspired bathrooms, valet parking and evening turndown service.

Fitzpatrick Manhattan

The Fitzpatrick Manhattan's central location makes it an ideal accommodation for those seeking easy access to the city's world-class shopping, restaurants and museums. This 17-floor hotel has 91 rooms and suites, which includes 43 deluxe guestrooms, 42 deluxe suites and six presidential suites. Guests staying at this location may take advantage of complimentary access to the New York Health & Racquet Club, located less than a block from the hotel.

Fitzpatrick Grand Central

The Fitzpatrick Grand Central is located across the street from Grand Central Station, which makes it a convenient accommodation for those traveling into the city by train. This 10-floor hotel has 155 rooms and suites, which includes 144 deluxe guestrooms and 11 suites. In addition, this hotel has a penthouse suite -- named in honor of Irish actor Liam Neeson -- on the top floor. A few deluxe guestrooms called garden rooms are also found on the top floor. Each garden room features a terrace with a table and chairs. Those seeking a workout during their stay can take advantage of a complimentary access pass to the New York Sports Club, which is located three blocks from the hotel.

Dining

Both New York City Fitzpatrick Hotel locations have dining options on the premises. Patrons of the Fitzpatrick Manhattan can choose to eat at The Fitz. This bar and restaurant is well-known for its full Irish breakfast -- Irish sausage, bacon, black and white pudding, two eggs and grilled tomato -- which is offered all day, every day. Salads, sandwiches and a variety of entrees including pasta, chicken, fish and steak can also be found on the menu. Those staying at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central can opt to eat at The Wheeltapper Pub and Patio. This restaurant, modeled after a traditional Irish pub, features Irish cuisine along with American and eclectic options. Al fresco dining is offered on the patio, which is covered by a retractable awning and heated in the winter season.
