Family-Friendly San Francisco Hotels

With such attractions as Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park and the San Francisco Zoo, the "City by the Bay" is a major tourist attraction for families. A large family of parents, grandparents and children often needs more accommodation than the run-of-the-mill lodging can provide. Family-oriented hotels in the bay area will provide for tots and parents alike.

Argonaut Hotel

The Argonaut Hotel is located in Fisherman's Wharf, one of the most popular tourist attractions in San Francisco. The hotel's furniture styling, blue and gold color palette and views of the waterfront combine to form a strong maritime ambiance. Pets are welcome at the Argonaut. The front desk makes strollers, highchairs, cribs, child-size robes and babysitting services available for parents to borrow. All of the 13 suites feature a brass telescope, Jacuzzi and parlor.

Hotel del Sol

Nestled deeply in the Marina District of San Francisco is the Hotel del Sol. Each of the its 57 rooms sports vibrant rainbow colors, and most feature views of the courtyard. Special touches make the hotel truly family-friendly, inducing fresh cookies served each afternoon, a film library of children's movies, and water bowl and bed for furry guests. The hotel is the winner of the Fodor's Choice Gold Award in the category of "Best Hotels for Kids and Families."

The Fairmont San Francisco

Where the cable car lines meet is where you will find the Fairmont San Francisco Hotel. Nearly 600 guest rooms, including 62 suites, make up the hotel, each offering panoramic vistas of the city. Among the hotel's dining establishments is the Tonga Room, a jungle-themed tiki bar featuring live entertainment and a "rain storm." The adjoining Hurricane Bar serves drinks and snacks from the South Pacific. A spa and health club also are available.

Hotel Diva

The Hotel Diva is in Union Square, the shopping and entertainment axis of San Fransisco. Chic design, dark color tones and wave forms typify the guest rooms in the Diva. The hotel welcomes pets under 40 lbs. The "little divas suite" is designed especially to heighten children's comfort and enjoyment during their stay. The entire suite is brilliantly colored, stocked with a karaoke machine and a chest full of costumes. The staff welcomes guests in this suite with a personal iPod shuffle and coupons tot the nearby coffee shop.
