When visiting New York City, it can be hard to find rooms spacious enough or rates low enough to accommodate a family. Some of the Big Apple's hotels go above and beyond for families, however, with extensive family programs that include gifts, discounts and special services. New York City's family hotels are central to many of the city's most popular attractions.

Four Seasons Hotel - New York

The Four Seasons is one of New York's most luxurious and iconic hotels. The hotel not only makes every effort to impress its adult visitors, it has an extensive children's program. At check-in, guests receive a kid's welcome gift, child-size bathrobes, complimentary baby toiletries and information about nearby children's attractions. Upon request, the hotel offers room childproofing, babysitting services, cribs, complimentary coloring books, crayons, toys, DVDs, and board games. The hotel accommodates large families with suites starting at 1,000 square feet or connecting hotel rooms. Suites come with one, two or three bedrooms and have views of Manhattan, Central Park, and the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings.

70 Park Avenue

As part of the KimptonKids program, young guests of 70 Park Avenue receive a welcome gift, child-size animal print robes, a list of child-friendly attractions nearby and their own comment card to let the hotel staff know how they are doing. Adult guests may request cribs, playpens or safety kits. The hotel also offers babysitting services, stroller rentals and arranges car rentals with child safety seats. High chairs and booster seats are available at the Silverleaf Tavern and from room service. The hotel's Santa Surprise Package treats guests to a fully stuffed stocking, a choice of milk and cookies, chocolate truffles or popcorn, and a hosted evening wine hour for parents.

Hotel Novotel New York Times Square

At Novotel, up to two children less than 16 years of age stay free, and families get late checkout up to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Families also receive a gift. Kids Voyage is a collection of guidebooks for children that Novotel, in collaboration with education specialists, created. The hotel is located in Times Square, giving families easy and quick access to some of the city's biggest attractions. Larger families should note that Novotel rooms only accommodate two adults and two children. Children under 16 years old eat free at Café Nicole, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Loews Regency Hotel

FAO Schwartz is just one of many kid-friendly attractions near Loews Regency Hotel. The hotel provides younger guests with Fisher-Price Welcome gifts, "Kidbanas" by the pool and music download cards. Keep kids entertained with the hotel's recreational programs, kids camp or the "Teen Edu-cation" learning vacation package. In-room family services include toys, babysitting, childproofing, and game and DVD libraries. Guests receive discounts on nearby attractions plus 50 percent off a second room of equal or lesser value; children under 12 years old eat free with the "Family Fun Package."
