Fall Campout Festival at Lake Loramie State Park

Lake Loramie State Park in Minster, Ohio, is home to the Fall Festival and Campout, a weekend-long annual celebration in September with 40 to 50 early American settler campsite displays and period reenactors, a farmers' market, craft show, antique power show, kids activities, entertainment and plenty of good food.

Lake Loramie State Park

Located in western Ohio just an hour north of Dayton, Lake Loramie State Park offers 175 camp and RV sites, as well as three cedar cabins for rental. Camp and RV sites have access to showers, flush-toilets, dump sites and boat tie-ups. Park activities include boating, fishing or swimming the 1,655-acre Lake Loramie, hunting, hiking or biking the park's five, one- to two-mile trails across the park, taking a stroll through the nature center, mini-golf, picnicking at one of the park's 15 available picnic sites and winter recreation activities such as ice-skating, sledding and cross-country skiing.

Festival Date and Hours

The 2011 annual Fall Campout Festival at Lake Loramie State Park (no website; 4401 Ft. Loramie Swanders Road, Minster; 937-295-2011) will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 16 to 18. The activities begin Friday night at 5 p.m. and run through 10 p.m., followed by a 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. schedule on Saturday and a 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. schedule on Sunday. The festival is held annually in mid-September, and the 2011 celebration will mark the 29th anniversary.

Pricing and Activities

Although you must pay for overnight site rental or cabin accommodations at Loramie Lake State Park, there is no admission or parking fee to attend the Fall Campout Festival. Historical reenactment and festival activities are geared for the whole family, with past events including a lumberjack show, mountain man encampment reenactment, antique machinery shows, musical acts and plenty of food and crafts for purchase.

Site Reservation

To reserve your overnight camping site or cabin rental for the Fall Campout Festival at Lake Loramie State Park, visit the Ohio Department of Natural Resources State Park (dnr.state.oh.us) online reservation page, which allows you to book an early site for the weekend-long festival. Cabins and sites are available throughout the weekend of the festival, as well as the park's regular camping season, which runs from spring through fall. At the time of publication, the nightly rate varies by site type and ranges between $22 and $26.
