If you're traveling to Estes Park, Colorado, prepare yourself for panoramic views of snow-covered mountain tips, meadows where elk wander and Aspen trees as far as you can see. Many accommodations that offer full kitchens consist of cabins and condominiums. If you're looking for a cabin closer to the downtown entertainment on Elkhorn Avenue or something closer to the park, luxury, rustic and modern cabins are available.

Near Rocky Mountain National Park

Rams Horn Village Resort is less than one mile from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The two-bedroom cabins are decorated with framed artwork, leather or cotton furnishings and skylights in the master bath. Cabins include full kitchens, dining rooms, fireplaces and a balcony off the master bedroom with views of Longs Peak. You will find a clubhouse with a computer and movie rentals, a fitness center, three outdoor hot tubs and an outdoor swimming pool on the property. Cabins can sleep six guests comfortably; larger cabins are available. Rams Horn offers a waffle breakfast every Sunday. One mile from Rocky Mountain National Park, the Lazy R Cottages offer cabins that can accommodate two to 14 guests. Cabins are either modernly decorated with white walls and floral bedding, or have knotty-pine interiors with stone fireplaces. Full kitchens, views of the Continental Divide from the deck or patio, barbecue grills and DVD players add to the cabin amenities. Movie rentals are available on-site.

Condos

Bear Paw Suites provides one-, two- or three-bedroom condos. Each condo offers contemporary decorating with plaid furnishings, end tables and beds made from tree stumps and branches and nature paintings in select rooms. Full-kitchens, washers and dryers, living rooms with fireplaces, whirlpool bathtubs and furnished patios with barbecue grills add to the amenities. Nearby attractions include Tiny Town's Miniature Golf and the 18-hole Estes Park Golf Course, both approximately four miles away. If you're interested in a relaxing evening, Bear Paw Suites is five miles from the Rock Inn Mountain Tavern, which has live music throughout the week.

Fall River

Blackhawk Lodges consists of 10 one-story cabins with knotty-pine walls and views of Fall River. Cabins offer full kitchens, fireplaces and living rooms. Surrounded by aspen and pine trees, on-site amenities include picnic areas and a hot tub located by the river. Cabins are approximately two miles from downtown Estes where you can dine on burgers at Poppy's Restaurant or have a slice of homemade pie at the Estes Park Pie Shop, both located on Elkhorn Avenue. The Inn at Fall River offers cabins with knotty-pine interiors. Cabins are decorated with quilted bedspreads and light-wood furnishings. Cabins provide living and dining rooms, full kitchens and two bedrooms with queen-sized beds. Picnic areas are located outside each cabin. The Inn at Fall River is a five-minute drive from the Stanley Hotel, which holds ghost tours and movie screenings of "The Shining" throughout the year.

Family-friendly

Operating since 1907, the YMCA of the Rockies is enveloped by mountain views of the Mummy's Range and Longs Peak. On-site outdoor activities range from tennis to basketball and rope courses. Guests can swim in the indoor pool, work on a project in the arts and crafts room or check out a book from the on-site library. The cabin accommodations contain two bedrooms, a small dining area, a fireplace, a full kitchen and a porch off the front door; bigger cabins are available for large families or groups. The main lodge provides a convenience store and a cafe. A post office and laundry facilities are also located on the property. During the winter you can purchase passes to nearby ski locations and arrange for private skiing lessons.
