Schaumburg, Illinois is a small village in Cook County. It is just minutes away from Enchanted Castle, a large family fun center located in Lombard. The castle has been a prime destination for parents and their children for years, thanks to the wide variety of entertainment it offers.

Background

Established in 1983 by J. Richard Oltmann, the medieval-themed Enchanted Castle occupied 10,000 square feet at its Lombard Pines Shopping Center location. It now covers over 60,000 square feet. Oltmann has expanded his entertainment empire to the nearby cities of Joliet and Burbank, where parks called "Haunted Trails" offer similar amenities but with a spooky theme.

Activities and Facilities

At Enchanted Castle, visitors will find arcade games, mini golf, laser tag, go karts and bumper cars. The Black Forest mini-golf course is an indoor, lit 18-hole attraction lined with dragons and other mythical creatures. The center also has its own indoor playground. In the Enchanted Castle arcade, kids will find over 200 games.

Dining

The center features its own full-service, casual restaurant, with food ranging from whole pizzas to hamburgers. Appetizers include a sampler platter or hot mozzarella sticks; you can choose from entrees such as a taco plate, a turkey club or spaghetti marinara. The restaurant also has a kids' menu with popcorn chicken, corn dogs and grilled cheese. A variety of beers, wines and sodas are available.

Parties and Events

Enchanted Castle has a 625-seat private party hall featuring an animatronics stage show. It offers discounted group rates and party packages; some plans include pizza, game tokens, unlimited go-kart rides and karaoke. The center also offers packages geared toward nonprofit organizations and local schools; the packages can be used as fund-raising events or to reward students for their performance in the classroom.
