Dublin Zoo sits in the southeastern corner of Phoenix Park, one of the largest urban parks in Europe. Phoenix Park opened in 1662 with Dublin Zoo first opening its gates in 1831. The area around Phoenix Park is mainly residential, meaning the area does not have many hotels.
