Ocean-side luxury resorts of the island-nation Dominican Republic feature the natural beauty and scenic beaches that the Caribbean is so well-known for. Many of these resorts have so many amenities and facilities that it is not necessary to leave the grounds of the hotel to have a varied vacation.

Casa de Campo

This Caribbean-style golf resort is set on 7,000-acres in the southeastern coast of La Romana. Hotel rooms accommodate singles, couples or families, and many feature patios, balconies and high-end technological amenities. Villas at the Casa range from three bedrooms to six, and facilities include a private maid, valet service and a back-yard pool. Hotel facilities include three full-size golf courses, each designed by Pete Dye, as well as a tennis center, healing spa, equestrian center and sharpshooting range.

Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus Hotel

The Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus Hotel gives guests a sense of small-town seclusion -- the hotel is located in the small town of Bavahibe -- combined with the extravagance of a large resort hotel. The resort is home to 498 guest rooms, including 32 small suites; each one is decorated in a gold-and-blue color scheme and features a mini-bar and a balcony or terrace. Two children's clubs -- one for ages 4 to 8 and another for ages 9 to 13 -- features kid-friendly activities. Adult activities, from dancing to comedy, are available at the hotel, as are an array of complimentary sporting activities, including archery, pool, volleyball, kayaking, windsurfing and diving.

Paradisus Palma Real Hotel

Punta Cana International Airport is a 25-minute drive from the Paradisus Palma Real Hotel, located alongside Playa de Bavaro. Each of the 554 suites in the hotel features mahogany woodwork, a jet shower, whirlpool bath and an attractive gold and beige color scheme. A total of nine restaurants -- both pool-side and ala carte -- serve cuisines originating from all over the world, and nine bars serve cool drinks throughout the hotel. An overlarge pool is located in the center of the hotel, as are seven whirlpools. A championship golf course designed by Jose Pepe Gancedo and replete with tropical vegetation abuts the hotel.

Zoetry Agua Punta Cana Hotel

A stay at the Zoetry Agua Punta Cana Hotel begins with a complimentary bottle of rum, which sets the tropical, care-free mood that the hotel provides. There is no check-in or check-out times. The hotel provides fresh fruit daily, and organic, gourmet dining is available at the hotel's restaurant. An in-room mini-bar is refilled twice daily, and unlimited cocktails and other beverages are available to guests. Also complimentary is a 20-minute spa treatment and 20-minute wellness consultation at the hotel spa. Free-form pools and Jacuzzis are located throughout the hotel grounds.
