Craft shows take place in various locations in Texas throughout the month of December. Craft shows often combine with community events and other types of shows to provide a variety of options for visitors to craft fairs and crafters.. Specialty craft fairs provide hours of shopping for collectors, holiday shoppers and those looking for a specific type of craft.
Blanco Trade Days
The Blanco Trade Days and Chili/BBQ Cook-off (Blancotradedays.i8.com) takes place in December in Yett Park in the city of Blanco, located in the Texas Hill Country.. This craft fair features cooking, food tasting, Texas Hold-'em, fireworks, karaoke and dancing. The crafts at this fair include: candle-making, ceramics, textiles, floral crafts, folk and garden art, glass, jewelry-making, mixed media, needlework, painting and pottery. Camping is available for those participating in the event, held the last couple of weeks in December.
Each year in downtown Buda, Texas, a town just southwest of Austin, crafters from all over the state meet for Buda Fest (Budafest.org). This crafter's festival features over 125 craft vendors, with antiques and collectibles also available. The event has a full carnival, a parade, live music and a wide selection of locally prepared foods. All the food vendors at the festival are local charities, and all proceeds go to benefit those charities. There is free entry to the grounds of the festival and a small parking fee for parking in the City Park that also goes to a local charity.
Huntsville for the Holidays
For those looking to do their Christmas shopping at a holiday craft fair, consider Hunstville for the Holidays. This fair, held in early December in a city just north of Houston, combines a Christmas craft fair with a number of other family events to kick off the holiday season. After shopping in the Christmas fair, stop by and visit a replica of Bethlehem and take advantage of holiday specials at local museums. Enjoy the Lions Club Christmas Parade, and music and dance concerts at the local performing arts center. Let the youngest craft enthusiasts finish their visit to Huntsville for the Holidays with some cocoa with Santa.
Oma's Christmas Craft Fair
In early December, the Kendall County Fair Association hosts Oma's Christmas Craft Fair. This fair, held at the Kendall County Fair Grounds in Boerne, Texas (near San Antonio), is sponsored by the Women's Auxiliary of the Kendall County Fair Association.
