Day Camps in Bergen County, New Jersey

    Bergen County, New Jersey, in the northeastern part of the state, is the most populated county. Activities abound in the summertime, including day camps for children of all ages. There are many types of activities available throughout Bergen.

    Kids U Summer Camp

    Kids U Summer Camp (kidsu.com) in Paramus offers programs during school vacation weeks as well as in the summer. Children can having fun with gymnastics, rock climbing, cooking, science, music, craft projects, sports and games, among other activities. Your child can also enjoy the PlayQuad, the 2,000-square-feet, 17-feet tall indoor jungle gym during facility hours. Children have three to four different classes daily. Morning and afternoon sessions are offered and snacks and drinks are provided. Programs are from three to five hours long, for children aged 3 to 9.

    Camp Invention

    Camp Invention (campinvention.org) has locations in Franklin Lakes and Tenafly and offers children in grades one through six the chance to become immersed in hands-on investigations, experiments and engineering challenges through imaginative play. Your child will learn essential life skills such as problem solving and teamwork by relying on critical thinking to solve specific challenges, such as building a clubhouse from PVC piping and creating their own inventions from recycled pieces of household appliances.

    Camp Little Feet

    This day camp at Temple Beth Rishon (bethrishon.org) in Wyckoff is for Jewish youngsters who will experience eight distinctive themed weeks, such as Catch a Wave week, Wild Wild West week and Jamming Jungle/Safari week. Camp Little Feet campers will also experience Summer Shabbat on Fridays with prayers and challah. Camp hours for 2-year-olds are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and for 3-year-olds from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    Cornerstone Day Camp

    The Cornerstone Day Camp is run by the First Baptist Church in Hackensack (fbcinfo.org) and is dedicated to teaching the word of God in an entertaining environment. Children entering grades one through five are encouraged to attend Cornerstone, while Adventure Camp is for children entering grades six through 10. Camp activities will have a spiritual, physical and social emphasis while providing youngsters with valuable life lessons in sharing, caring and love for God and others. Campers will enjoy sports and games, as well as arts and crafts, bible lessons, singing and weekly trips to local entertainment venues.

    Bergen County YJCC

    The Bergen County YJCC (yjcc.org) in the Township of Washington offers a day camp with a wide variety of activities for youngsters of all ages. For example, KinderCamp is for children ages 2 to 4 and allows campers to enjoy water activities, music, arts and crafts, story time, gym and introduces 4-year-olds to horseback riding. Actors Camp, for those in grades 4 through 12, offers campers the opportunity to be taught by professional working actors with experience in theater, film, TV, dance and commercials.
