Craft Shows in Shakopee, Minnesota

    Arts-and-crafts shows in the U.S. offer the best venues to find one-of-a-kind American-made products. Proud U.S. artisans from all over the country gather to showcase handcrafted wares and beautiful art at several arts and crafts shows in Shakopee.

    Spring Festival

    Voted one of the top 100 Classic and Contemporary shows by "Sunshine Artist Magazine," the Shakopee Spring Festival (hpfestivals.com) showcases 500 craftspeople and artisans from more than 30 states. These artists and crafters thrive on bringing something new to each show. Attendees can sign up to win gift certificates, awarded hourly, and find plenty of handcrafted home-decor and gifts. The Spring festival takes place the second weekend in April at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. Hours are Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children under 10 get in free, and consumers can go to hpfestivals.com for discount tickets or look for them in local newspapers.

    Autumn Festival

    Also voted one of the top 100 Classic and Contemporary Craft shows by "Sunshine Artist Magazine," the Autumn Festival showcases the finest of "American Made" arts and crafts. (hpfestivals.com). This festive event brings in more than 500 artists and craftspeople from around the country who show off their one-of-a-kind, handcrafted wares. Sponsors award gift certificates to winning attendees every hour. This gigantic gathering takes place in Canterbury Park in Shakopee the second weekend in November. The show takes place Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Consumers can check hpfestivals.com or local newspapers for discount tickets; children under 10 get in free.

    Elk River Fall Show

    Thirty-seven miles from Shakopee, the Elk River Spring Arts and Crafts fair (ci.elk-river.mn.us) takes place annually, the third week in September. This exhibit showcases more than 110 artisans and crafters and focuses on showcasing hand-crafted items. The show starts on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continues through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    St. Paul Craft Show

    The American Craft Council (public.craftcouncil.org) sponsors a craft show held in April at the St. Paul River Centre, 175 West Kellogg Boulevard, just 30 miles outside of Shakopee. More than 240 crafters and artisans showcase their American-made wares. They feature handmade wares under $100, lawn-and-garden items, green crafts and more. Live demos include ceramic, jewelry and wood techniques. Held the third week in April, the event hours are Thursday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children 12 and under get in free.
